In Season 1 of Kaiju No. 8, Narumi was present for a short while, but viewers found his initial presentation and character design underwhelming. Despite sporting a unique, stylish appearance with his spiky two-toned hair and striking, angular features in the manga, his brief appearance in the first season failed to fully capture these qualities.

Thankfully, with Narumi playing a larger part in Season 2, Production I.G. appears to have made an appreciable effort to make his character model more aligned with the manga.
