This summer marks the comeback of one of the largest franchises, Kaiju No. 8, with fresh episodes in tow. The much-anticipated second season now has an official release date, accompanied by a captivating new trailer that also confirms a change in streaming platform. Last year, Kaiju No. 8 made a splash as the standout new anime franchise, boasting a grand debut similar to a blockbuster movie. Unlike other anime series launched last year, Kaiju No. 8 premiered both its Japanese and English dubbed episodes simultaneously each week, and it was available for streaming globally at exactly the same time.
As a keen observer of anime news, I was thrilled to learn earlier that Kaiju No. 8 Season 2 was set to premiere this summer as part of the 2025 schedule. However, fresh updates have confirmed that we’ll be diving back into the kaiju-filled world on July 19th! And just like its successful first season, these new episodes will be available globally on X streaming platform. To mark this exciting news, a spectacular new poster for Kaiju No. 8 Season 2 has been unveiled – take a look below to catch a glimpse of the action-packed adventures that await us!
When Does Kaiju No. 8 Come Out?
The second season of “Kaiju No. 8” is set to premiere in Japan on July 19th, and just like the first season, it will be available for streaming outside of Japan through both X and Crunchyroll. Additionally, a special episode titled “Hoshina’s Day Off” will air in Japan on July 5th before the new season starts. However, it’s not yet clear if this extra episode will also stream on Crunchyroll (since it was initially part of the “Kaiju No. 8: Mission Recon” movie event), but it will be available through X when it airs on that day.
There’s still much we don’t know about the upcoming season of Kaiju No. 8, but since a release date and streaming platforms have been announced, it will be less agonizing to wait for the new episodes. In the interim, it would be wise to watch all that transpired in the first season, which is now available on Crunchyroll. As Season 2 will dive straight into continuing the story from where it ended, a recap might come in handy.
What’s Coming in Kaiju No. 8 Season 2?
In the finale of “Kaiju No. 8”, Kafka Hibino finds himself in a dramatic dilemma as his hidden abilities have been exposed to the defense force. He’s been given a temporary position within the unit, but they are cautious due to his potential danger. The JAKDF hopes he’ll employ his transformative power against Kaiju menaces, yet they will keep a close eye on him to prevent him from turning into one of the threats themselves. If he begins to show signs of monstrous transformation, they won’t hesitate to eliminate him using whatever methods are required.
This upcoming season primarily revolves around Gen Narumi, a powerful fighter within the JAKDF and the one tasked with keeping tabs on Kafka. Known for his voice work as Tomura Shigaraki in “My Hero Academia,” Narumi will be voiced by Koki Uchiyama in “Kaiju No. 8” Season 2. The storyline promises a thrilling blend of intense battles against powerful monsters and maintaining control, as Narumi’s task is not just to fight but to ensure he himself doesn’t lose control. If the original manga by Naoya Matsumoto serves as an indicator, we can expect an action-packed season ahead.
