The release window was confirmed when a trailer dropped for Kaiju Day.

What is the plot of Kaiju No. 8?
Hibino dreams of battling monstrous creatures with the Japanese Anti-Kaiju Defense Force, but unfortunately, his reality is that of a cleaner, constantly handling tasks nobody else wants to take care of.
This all changes, however, when he accidentally ingests a parasite which makes him turn into the titular Kaiju No. 8.
Consequently, during the initial season, he attempts to balance his JAKDF application with concealing another aspect of his life.
