KAMITSUBAKI STUDIO’s publisher and developer Kazuhide Oka have unveiled a new game titled “PLATONICA SPACE,” described as a “psychological space exploration adventure.” The game is planned for PC (Steam), but no release date has been set. Interested gamers can experience it firsthand at BitSummit, which takes place from July 18 to 20 at Miyako Messe in Kyoto, Japan.
Here is an overview of the game, via its Steam page:
About
Open the door and step into someone’s memories.
In “Platonica Space,” you embark on a psychological journey of cosmic discovery, navigating through numerous connected chambers to recover what was once yours – your cherished memories.
Story
All of a sudden, you find yourself stirring in an unrecognized chamber. As you venture through a threshold, you stumble upon another perplexing room. This enigmatic labyrinth seems to be a series of connected chambers, each following the other without any discernible exit.
It’s a terrible predicament you find yourself in, having misplaced your recollections. As you traverse through these chambers, you encounter other young women who share your confusion about their identity and origin. However, as you delve deeper into the exploration, an unsettling truth dawns on you: these rooms are constructed from our shared memories.
Who are you?
Why are you here?
And how can you escape this seemingly endless collection of rooms?
Restore Memories by Placing Items
While delving deeper into this captivating world, I come across an assortment of intriguing artifacts. By strategically positioning these items at certain locations, I can uncover memories tied to unique combinations of objects and settings.
Example: Putting a knife in the kitchen may evoke memories of cooking… however, placing it in another room could trigger recollections of something completely unrelated instead.
Although some of the recollections you’ll encounter won’t be yours, but rather those belonging to others who are stuck in this peculiar place. Sift through these memories, determine their rightful owners, and clarity will eventually reveal itself.
A Shifting Space, Changing Every Time You Wake up
Each time you drift off to sleep and awaken, you’ll notice that the arrangement of the spaces, their interconnections, and the objects within them have been rearranged.
As a game enthusiast, I can tell you this much – each time you dive into the world of gaming, there’s always something new to discover. You’ll gather treasures, unlock secrets, and unearth fragments of past events as often as you like. But here’s the twist: no two playthroughs will ever be the same.
The More You Do, the Sleepier You Get
Every action you perform contributes to your Drowsiness meter. When this meter is completely filled, you’ll likely doze off… and it’s uncertain where you’ll regain consciousness.
Additionally, since you stand to misplace the possessions you’re carrying, it’s crucial to thoughtfully map out each move you make, including the spaces you venture into and the objects you decide to store within them.
Meet the Others Trapped Within
Similar to yourself, these women within this space also lack their recollections. As you uncover more details about them, it’s likely that they will reciprocate by offering helpful clues in return.
The real question is… should you trust them?
Each individual carries a personal history that’s often overlooked, as well as hidden truths. Discovering these might just unveil the whole story.
