Kansas Woman’s Cause of Death Confirmed After Body Found in Freezer

As someone who has followed numerous crime cases throughout my years of investigative work, this latest tragedy involving Jillian Kelley and Veronica Butler is truly heart-wrenching. The gruesome details emerging from this case are chilling, and it’s difficult to imagine the terror these two women must have experienced before their lives were cruelly cut short.

New details are emerging about a grisly murder case.

Investigators probing the murders of Jilian Kelley, aged 39, and Veronica Butler, 27, whose bodies were discovered in an Oklahoma freezer two weeks following their March disappearance, are suggesting that the women may have been slain to bring a close to a contentious custody dispute involving a grandmother on the paternal side. This information comes from CBS’s report based on court documents.

But while the investigation continues, Kelley’s probable cause of death has been confirmed.

As reported by TopMob News, a medical examiner’s findings indicate that Kelley died from numerous deep, violent injuries inflicted by sharp objects, and her death was classified as a homicide. The report reveals that Kelley had a total of 16 wounds – nine stab wounds and seven cuts – with two of the injuries suggesting she tried to protect herself.

The report noted that there seemed to be signs of a stun gun injury on her neck and shoulder, but due to the advanced decomposition of her body, it was not possible to make a conclusive verification through both visual examination and microscopic analysis.

The report noted that Kelley’s injuries also involved “a devastating upper cervical spinal cord injury,” and that her death was likely “very rapid as she would have likely not only lost her ability to move her body below her head, but also her ability to breathe on her own.”

Initially, Kelley and Butler disappeared on March 30 during their trip to collect Butler’s daughter for a birthday celebration, having travelled from Kansas earlier. As stated in court-issued warrants and reported by CBS News, Kelley was responsible for supervising the visit in accordance with a custody order.

According to the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation, Cullum, Adams, Cole Twombly, Cora Twombly, and Paul Grice have been taken into custody for their alleged involvement in a series of murders.

According to the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation (OSBI), it is reported that all five suspects were part of a self-proclaimed anti-government organization named “God’s Misfits.” This group, with a religious orientation, frequently gathered at the Twombly residence for their meetings.

The individuals are accused by the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation (OSBI) of two counts each of first-degree murder, two counts of kidnapping, and one count of conspiring to commit first-degree murder. If found guilty, they could potentially spend the rest of their lives in prison or face capital punishment for the murder charges within Oklahoma.

TopMob News has attempted to get comments from local police and attorney for Cullum, but no response has been received yet. The other four suspects, as per the department’s executive director Tim Laughlin, have assigned attorneys from Oklahoma Indigent Defense System who, following agency policy, do not comment on ongoing cases in order to safeguard their clients’ rights and confidentiality.
