Kanye West Makes Surprising Grammys Return After 10-Year Absence

Kanye West just made his return to the Grammys.

On February 2nd, the rapper made his long-awaited return to the annual awards ceremony held at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles, marking a decade since his last visit.

West, also known as Ye, was accompanied by his wife Bianca Censori at the event. They got married in December 2022, as reported by DailyMail.com through a marriage license. The 24-time Grammy winner donned a black shirt and pants with sunglasses. Meanwhile, the model made her red carpet entrance draped in a long black coat, later removing it to pose in minimal attire (for more red carpet looks, click here).

In 2015, West last graced the Grammy stage alongside his then-spouse, Kim Kardashian. They had gotten married approximately eight months earlier and showed their affection publicly on the red carpet before entering for the event. There, West was nominated in the categories of Best Rap Song and Best Rap/Sung Collaboration for “Bound 2.” He also collaborated with Rihanna and Paul McCartney to perform “FourFiveSeconds” that year, and mimicked crashing Beck’s acceptance speech after the latter won Album of the Year over Beyoncé, reminding fans of his interruption at Taylor Swift’s acceptance speech during the 2009 MTV VMAs.

After being married for approximately seven years, Kardashian filed for divorce from West in February 2021. The couple, who have four children together – North West (age 11), Saint West (age 9), Chicago West (age 7), and Psalm West (age 5) – finalized their divorce in November 2022, just a month before rumors of his reported marriage to Censori surfaced.

Kanye West‘s appearance is unusual, not only at this year’s Grammys but at high-profile red carpet events in general. Despite some controversy he’s faced recently – such as his antisemitic remarks – he has been choosing to keep a lower profile.

Despite being 47 years old, he has persistently put out new music. This year, he’s been nominated in the Best Rap Song category for “Carnival” together with Jordan Carter, Raul Cubina, Grant Dickinson, Samuel Lindley, Nasir Pemberton, Dimitri Roger, Ty Dolla $ign, and Mark Carl Stolinski Williams.
