In a tweet and the song’s lyrics, Kanye claims that he had a romantic involvement with one of his cousins during their youth.

As a film critic, I shared a powerful music video on Twitter this past Monday morning, which poignantly depicted themes of violence, bigotry, and familial strife through striking visuals of guns, abuse, slurs, and hate symbols. The second part of the video transitions to an animated sequence, seemingly depicting a man plummeting from a skyscraper. Accompanying this thought-provoking piece, I made accusations against a close male relative.

Title of the song is “COUSINS,” which discusses my cousin who’s serving a life sentence for murdering a pregnant woman, following our decision to no longer view inappropriate content together. In hindsight, I can’t help but wonder if it was somehow my fault for showing him such material when he was just six years old, and the actions that followed mirrored what we had seen.

It’s quite significant to assert such serious accusations considering the alleged incident occurred when he was still a minor. Kanye West failed to disclose the specific family member he was referring to, nor did he mention the age of that individual during the incident. In my household, I discovered Playboy-like magazines that differed from what my father owned. As ‘Ye’, I admit to an uncomfortable truth: I engaged in an inappropriate act with my cousin until I was 14 years old. This statement, though difficult to share, is mine to acknowledge and learn from.

In the start of “Cousins”, he echoed similar assertions, suggesting that both he and his cousin were puzzled by the content in the adult publications they came across, and subsequently mimicked their observations.

It’s uncertain if these accusations and the song’s content are factual or how much truth they hold. Artists often employ vivid language in their lyrics symbolically or to convey a message, and it’s not the first time Ye has made significant claims – both in his songs and on social media. For instance, a recent track appears to validate speculation that his wife Bianca Censori parted ways with him after the Grammys dress controversy and his subsequent antisemitic outburst.

In a recent interview, he mentioned his former spouse, Kim Kardashian, and their four kids. He expressed that he felt uncomfortable about having more children with her after just two months of being together. Additionally, Kardashian had to request an urgent custody hearing due to the fact that Andrew and Tristan Tate, who were accused of sexual offenses abroad, planned to meet Kanye West at a time when their eldest child, North (age 11), was also present.

Beyond what was previously mentioned, Kanye West recently posted on social media this month that he had romantic encounters with Ashley Olsen and kissed Madonna. Furthermore, he acknowledged Iggy Azalea’s statement about a private conversation they had during a business meeting in which he admitted to fantasizing about her.
