Kanye “Ye” West is reflecting on his personal journey.
Recently, the rapper known as “Father Stretch My Hands” disclosed that his spouse, Bianca Censori, had challenged his initial bipolar diagnosis and suggested a medical professional who offered an alternative diagnosis.
In a conversation with Justin LaBoy on The Download podcast on February 4th, the 47-year-old shared: “My wife thought you weren’t bipolar as she had encountered bipolar before, but rather it turned out to be autism that I was dealing with.
Kanye West, father to North (age 11), Saint (age 8), Chicago (age 6), and Psalm (age 5) with ex-wife Kim Kardashian, has been candid about his battles with mental health. He publicly revealed his bipolar disorder diagnosis after a hospitalization in 2016 due to a psychiatric crisis.
Now, the Yeezy founder says his behavior has been into perspective.
He stated, “I really enjoy Donald Trump and plan to wear his hat because of it. People telling me not to or suggesting I should produce my album differently only makes me do it in a way that contrasts their advice.
Kanye stated that his diagnosis made it difficult for those close to him, since his actions didn’t allow room for assistance from others.
In my expertise, it’s quite challenging when individuals find themselves in situations where they have limited control. For instance, imagine dealing with an adult who, much like a grown man, values his independence. This person resists any attempt to manage their financial matters, such as bank accounts, or restrict their online expression, like social media posts on Twitter.
He went on to explain, “However, many factors were triggering my episodes, and it’s challenging. My father and others questioned, ‘Why are you considering leaving Adidas? With all that income?’ This comment was made after Adidas terminated our partnership in 2022 due to his antisemitic remarks. The persistent sensation of being powerless, ultimately led me to feel out of control.
When queried about using medication, the artist known as “All Falls Down” disclosed that he currently abstains, mentioning that he wishes to preserve his creative inspiration.
Kanye stated that he’s stopped using the medication since he discovered it wasn’t for bipolar disorder, which wasn’t his correct diagnosis. He mentioned seeking alternatives that don’t hinder his creativity, emphasizing that the benefits are worth any adjustment period, as long as people appreciate his creative output.
Kanye West recently gave an interview following an unexpected appearance at the 2025 Grammy Awards with his wife Bianca, whom he married in 2022. The couple caused a stir when they walked the red carpet, with Bianca wearing a see-through dress that revealed her bare physique.
Not long after stepping onto the red carpet, Kanye (dressed in a sleek all-black outfit) offered an explanation for Bianca’s attention-grabbing appearance.
He wrote on an Instagram post, now deleted, “I designed a Grammy dress for the most stunning woman there is.” “She’s my best friend and my wife.
