Kate Middleton joined Prince William, who had an informal appearance, in a previously recorded video message, which was shared by Kensington Palace on Instagram on August 11, just prior to the closing ceremony of the 2024 Paris Olympics.
“From all of us watching at home,” began the Princess of Wales, “congratulations to Team GB.”
In a recent appearance, Princess Kate donned a sweater with white and black stripes reminiscent of one she wore during a video announcement about her cancer treatment in March. Her hair, usually kept private, was styled straight, long, and parted to the side on this occasion.
William, positioned beside his spouse, donned a polo shirt in a striking teal color, representing Team Great Britain, for the first time in over a decade. Additionally, he grew out his beard, making a public appearance with this new facial style.
“Well done on all you have achieved,” he said in the video. “You’ve been an inspiration to us all.”

At the Games, the collective tally of the British Olympic team came to 65 medals, among which were 14 gold. The U.S. athletes’ impressive performance, with 126 medals including 40 golds, catapulted their country to first position.
In addition to Kate and William’s message, British celebrities like David Beckham, who significantly contributed to London securing the 2012 Olympics, and Snoop Dogg, who worked as a special NBC Olympics correspondent during the 2024 Games, also shared their thoughts.
