The Emmy winner has been hospitalized after fracturing her pelvis in two places while recovering from hip replacement surgery, she told People.
In her own words, she clarified that while the accident took place when she slipped at home, it’s important to note that the day prior, she had single-handedly shifted approximately 300 books during an event in Nashville.
“I weakened my body,” Kathie, 70, explained to the publication. “It’s my own fault.”
She remarked, “It wasn’t too challenging for me, given my weakness in that area. And before I knew it, I found myself back in the hospital with a fractured pelvis, both front and back. This pain in my pelvis is far greater than anything I experienced with my hip. Incredibly painful, indeed. Yet, here I am.”
The author subsequently labeled the event as a “humbling lesson,” acknowledging that she stayed in the hospital for a full week due to her lack of confidence in herself.
She went on to say, “You may believe you understand your body, but it undergoes changes as you grow older – something I can’t help but acknowledge, despite my reluctance.”
Despite Kathie pointing out that everyone else is enjoying “summer,” she herself isn’t, but she has made a promise to prioritize her health and manage to enjoy the process as well.
