What is Beetlejuice Beetlejuice About?

In short, the updated plot for Beetlejuice goes like this: The Deetz family, consisting of three generations, return to their home by Winter River following a sad, unforeseen event. Yet, they’re not alone; Beetlejuice still lingers, ready to stir things up again. When Astrid, Lydia’s rebellious teenage daughter, stumbles upon a peculiar town model in the attic and accidentally opens the gateway to the Afterlife, the chaos intensifies. With trouble brewing on both sides, it won’t take long for someone to utter Beetlejuice’s name three times, thus bringing back the mischievous spirit to wreak havoc with his unique brand of mayhem.

Michael Keaton once told Empire magazine that “Beetlejuice” is the most enjoyable work experience you can have, saying, “It’s so much fun, it’s fantastic. And here’s why: we’re making this movie just like we did the first one… There’s a woman in the grand waiting room for the afterlife playing with a fishing line and a cat to make it move.” This detail is worth mentioning because I find it delightful.

Keaton mentioned, “[Burton] and I discussed it years ago, keeping it secret from everyone. I said, ‘If it ever comes to pass, firstly, we’ve both expressed our intent numerous times. If it happens, it must be done as closely as possible to how we made it the first time. Not fabricating scenes or events, but rather improvising and brainstorming, while crafting genuine items with our own hands and constructing something. Incredible! It’s been the most enjoyable film project I’ve worked on in a very long time.”

Beetlejuice Beetlejuice will be released in theaters on September 6th.
