Keeley Hawes Takes Aim in ‘The Assassin’: First Look Revealed!

Last year’s announcement brings us the initial glimpse of a fresh dramatic series titled “The Assassin,” which originates from the minds behind “The Tourist.

As a captivated movie-goer, I’m thrilled to share that the latest series stars Keeley Hawes, famously known for her role in Miss Austen, and Freddie Highmore, recognized from The Good Doctor, taking on the lead roles as mother Julie and son Edward. However, their bonding moment turns into a struggle for survival when Julie’s hidden past as a retired assassin resurfaces, compelling them to join forces against impending threats.

Looking at the images (located both above and below), you’ll notice the breathtaking Greek island scenery serving as the backdrop for the show, along with a determined Hawes carefully aiming her rifle.

In another image, we see Highmore’s Edward looking particularly shocked at whatever he’s just seen.

As a film enthusiast, I can confidently say that I’m eagerly anticipating the upcoming series, knowing full well that it will undoubtedly surprise me with unexpected turns (and perhaps even multiple shockers)! This is because it hails from the brilliant minds of Harry and Jack Williams, the dynamic duo behind Two Brothers Pictures. Their impressive portfolio includes captivating shows such as Boat Story, Dinosaur, Baptiste, and The Missing – all of which have left me spellbound with their unpredictable twists!

On the show, both Hawes and Highmore hold the role of executive producers. Additionally, we now know who else will be joining the cast: Gina Gershon from Riverdale, Shalom Brune-Franklin from The Tourist, Jack Davenport from The Morning Show, and Alan Dale from Dynasty.

In addition to the cast, Gerald Kyd (from “The Split”), Devon Terrell (“Totally Completely Fine”), Richard Dormer (“Blue Lights”) and David Dencik (“The Ipcress File”) complete the ensemble of “The Assassin.

Regarding the show, Hawes expressed: “I consider myself incredibly fortunate to have spent my summer in Athens alongside the exceptional Freddie Highmore, as well as a talented cast and crew.

It was a sheer delight to breathe life into the extraordinary screenplays of Jack and Harry – working never felt more like play. I truly hope that everyone gets to enjoy ‘The Assassin’ just as much as we did!

Likewise, Highmore expressed: “There’s no beating a Greek journey with the charming and exceptional Keeley Hawes! I can hardly wait for viewers to catch a peek at our escapades.

As a cinephile, I’ve just come across an intriguing series synopsis that caught my attention. Nestled on a secluded Greek island, a former assassin named Julie (Hawes) experiences a tense reunion with her long-lost son, Edward (Highmore), who’s come all the way from England to visit. I can hardly wait to see how their strained relationship unfolds!

Equipped with questions about his potential lineage, Edward struggles to determine the opportune moment to discuss this sensitive matter with his evasive mother. However, when the chance eventually arises, their situation spirals into a perilous one as Julie’s troubled past resurfaces, compelling them to escape the island and elude their pursuers jointly.

Edward’s pursuit of the truth confronts Julie’s mystery as they find themselves compelled to collaborate in a struggle for life, pushing their troubled relationship to its extreme boundaries.

As they delve deeper into an ominous secret they suspect is their greatest peril, a more devastating hazard arises that could shatter the very foundation of their bond. In a desperate bid against time, Julie struggles to protect Edward and preserve their relationship as past and future clash in a dramatic confrontation spanning continents.
