The studio known for creating the Psychonauts series, Double Fine Productions, has revealed their upcoming game. Named Keeper, this new title was showcased at the Xbox Games Showcase event in 2025. You can watch the trailer here: [Trailer Link]
In “Keeper,” the narrative unfolds in a manner devoid of spoken or written language. The players will embark on an expedition through a world which Double Fine refers to as post-human, where humans have ceased to exist.
In an intriguing twist, one of the remaining symbols of human civilization – a dilapidated lighthouse – begins to mysteriously move. After crumbling to pieces, the debris inexplicably reforms and the lighthouse develops legs. The players are tasked with assuming the role of this extraordinary lighthouse, beginning their journey with a solitary goal: reach the heart of the island.
In this game, titled “Keeper”, the lighthouse will be joined by a bird that can engage with old machinery. The story revolves around an unconventional bond, where the two main characters embark on a journey to discover the world and seek fresh purpose in their existence.
As a gamer, I’ve always been excited to see who’s behind the brilliant games I love, and in the case of Double Fine, it’s none other than Lee Petty. He initially joined this legendary studio as the art director for Brutal Legend, but his talents have since been spread across numerous projects. From Psychonauts 2 and Broken Age, to Headlander, Stacking, and RAD – I can’t help but feel a sense of anticipation every time I hear he’s involved in a new project. It’s like having a favorite chef at your favorite restaurant – you know the dishes they create are going to be something special!
Keeper is coming to PC and Xbox Series X/S on October 17.
