Kendrick Lamar to Perform at 2025 Super Bowl Halftime Show

As a longtime music aficionado who has witnessed some of the most iconic performances in history, I must say that the Super Bowl halftime shows have always been a highlight for me. From Diana Ross gliding onto the field like a queen to Beyoncé slaying it with Destiny’s Child, these moments are etched into our collective memories.

Kendrick Lamar is set to return to the NFL’s biggest musical stage, this time as the main act.

On September 8th, it was officially announced that the 17-time Grammy Award winner will be the headlining act for the 2025 Apple Music Super Bowl Halftime Show, which is set to take place at the Caesars Superdome in New Orleans. This exciting event is being organized by the NFL, Apple Music, and Roc Nation.

According to the hip-hop artist, rap music remains the most influential genre so far. I’m here to make sure everyone remembers this fact. And let me tell you, they’ve chosen the best person for the job.

A promotional video for the Super Bowl Halftime Show, posted on Instagram by Lamar, shows him operating a football-throwing device outdoors on a football field, with an American flag serving as the backdrop.

Kendrick Lamar, who is 37 years old, shares that he’ll be taking the stage at Super Bowl 59. He wonders if you plan to attend. I certainly hope so! Remember, there’s just one chance to claim the championship—no second rounds. Let’s seize it! Boom!

The rapper added, “I wouldn’t want you to miss it. Meet me in New Orleans, February 9th, 2025.”

Lamar isn’t making his debut in a Super Bowl Halftime show; in fact, he shared the stage with Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, Eminem, and Mary J. Blige during the 2022 event as a co-headliner.

Roc Nation founder Jay-Z praised Lamar as a “once-in-a-generation artist and performer.”

In a statement, another hip-hop artist expressed that Kendrick’s profound passion for hip-hop and its culture significantly shapes his artistic perspective. With an exceptional talent to shape and impact global culture like no other, Kendrick’s work goes beyond music, leaving a lasting impression that will resonate for many years.

The head of music at the NFL, named Seth Dudowsky, stated, “Few musicians have influenced music and culture as significantly as Kendrick Lamar. Over and over again, Kendrick has demonstrated his exceptional talent for creating instances that strike a chord, redefine boundaries, and ultimately cause seismic shifts within hip-hop.

Look back at past Super Bowl Halftime Show performers over the years…

2014 saw Bruno Mars and Red Hot Chili Peppers igniting the Super Bowl stage! Mars set the tone with an electrifying drum solo, followed by a series of popular tunes such as “Locked Out of Heaven,” “Runaway Baby,” and “Treasure.” Towards the end, the legendary rock band joined him on stage for an energetic rendition of “Give It Away” that got everyone dancing!

At the start of the 2016 Super Bowl half-time concert, Coldplay’s Chris Martin encouraged everyone to gaze at the night sky with his lyrics, “Behold the stars!” This spectacular event featured Coldplay collaborating with music legends Beyoncé and Bruno Mars. They performed a mix of their popular songs like “Viva La Vida,” “Uptown Funk,” and “Formation.

2005’s Super Bowl halftime show was my personal testament to the timeless appeal of classic rock, orchestrated by none other than the legendary Paul McCartney himself. He gracefully traversed his discography, serenading us with one chart-topping hit after another – from the catchy beats of “Drive My Car” to the soulful strums of “Get Back,” the pyrotechnic extravaganza of “Live and Let Die,” and finally, a heartwarming rendition of “Hey Jude” that had every spectator joining in the chorus.

It was challenging not to be awestruck by the brilliant illumination during The Weeknd’s stunning 2021 Super Bowl half-time show. With his star power, he alone managed to captivate the audience as he delivered a series of hit songs like “The Hills,” “Earned It,” “Save Your Tears,” “I Can’t Feel My Face” and “I Feel It Coming,” among others.

At the Super Bowl Half-time Spectacle, the Black Eyed Peas, Usher, and Slash from Guns N’ Roses delivered powerful performances that left audiences breathless. However, some spectators voiced concerns about the audio clarity at certain moments.

We only need two words to explain why this Halftime Show went viral: Left Shark.

Back in 2010, who was the band that played? It was none other than the legendary rock band The Who! They showcased a medley of their popular songs on the Super Bowl stage, featuring tracks like “Pinball Wizard,” “Who Are You,” “Won’t Get Fooled Again,” and “Baba O’Riley.

10 years ago, Petty’s performance was undervalued due to its lack of flashiness compared to others, but his set was brimming with rock anthems such as “American Girl,” “Won’t Back Down,” “Free Fallin’,” and “Running Down a Dream.” He graced us with his presence, performed admirably, and flashed a warm smile. Rest in peace.

In the case of that specific concert in 2018, opinions about Justin Timberlake’s solo act varied widely.

On stage, the singer requested, “Please move away from the guacamole dip and set aside those chicken fingers. Crank up that television as loud as it goes.” Clearly, there’s no resisting the Boss’s commands!

Regardless of time or place, Mick Jagger and his rowdy bandmates have consistently delivered an exceptional show for over 50 years. This was evident when they energized the NFL crowd with popular hits such as “Rough Justice” and “(I Can’t Get No) Satisfaction.

Essentially, everyone who mattered in the world of music graced that Super Bowl stage. It was a chaotic spectacle. The performance took place at the zenith of boy bands, pop stars, and sugary-sweet tunes, and it’s still remembered as one of the most legendary shows in history.

The event was nothing short of astonishing, featuring a Cleopatra-inspired outfit, a gospel choir, and what seemed like cheerleading attire. It resonated with us all – spectators, participants, and even football itself. Such an experience will forever leave an indelible mark.

As a lifestyle connoisseur, allow me to share an exciting update: In my debut performance, I revisited a timeless piece, transforming “Message in a Bottle” into something fresh and captivating. Gwen Stefani graced the stage with her mesmerizing physique, sporting a toned midriff, loose trousers, and shimmering corset. The entire event was electrifying, leaving the audience spellbound for every moment.

In 2020, during the Super Bowl LV Halftime Show, two popular Latin artists ignited the stage with their energetic performances that left some fans amazed and others in awe. J Balvin and Bad Bunny were part of the show, and so was Emmy, Jennifer Lopez’s daughter, who also displayed her singing talents onstage!

Previously of the Supremes, Diana Ross was nothing less than extraordinary during her Halftime Show performance. In mere 12 minutes, the queen performed a stunning four costume changes. Timelessly entertaining, she sang “You Keep Me Hanging On,” “Baby Love” and “I Will Survive.” Before departing, she took to a helicopter – as one might expect from Diana Ross.

Following her lip-synced performance of the national anthem at Obama’s second inauguration the previous month, Beyonce was determined to shine at the Super Bowl and she certainly delivered. Jay-Z’s partner showcased her live singing prowess in the Superdome, New Orleans, leaving the audience spellbound with her powerful vocals. Halfway through her performance, she sent fans into a frenzy when Michelle Williams and Kelly Rowland joined her on stage for a Destiny’s Child reunion. Beyonce truly slayed the stage!

In a remarkable turn of events, Lady G didn’t opt for a traditional roof-raising performance; instead, she serenaded the crowd with “God Bless America,” followed by a somewhat dramatic jump (or so it seemed). This electrifying beginning was quickly followed by her hit song “Poker Face.” The spectacle was nothing short of breathtaking, extravagant, and entirely dedicated to Lady Gaga. Fans were enthralled, ecstatic, and couldn’t get enough of the performance. There were no meat dresses, blood, or giant glowing eggs in sight; instead, it was a high-energy show that made it apparent that the “Bad Romance” singer was destined to shine on the 50-yard line.

In an astonishing display that only Michael Jackson, the legendary pop artist, could dare to execute, he stood motionless on stage for a remarkable 90 seconds (a feat considering the maximum allowed time is just 13 minutes). As the audience hung on his every move, MJ electrified them by launching into “Jam.” He then switched gears and performed both “Billie Jean” and “Black or White,” complete with fedoras, crotch grabs, leg spins (and kicks) that added to the excitement. The crowd was left in awe by his captivating performance. As a final touch, Jackson utilized the entire Rose Bowl audience to create stunning portraits of children, culminating his set with “Heal the World.

Previously known as The Artist Formerly Known as Prince, he delivered an exceptional performance at the Super Bowl Halftime show by combining medleys of popular songs such as “We Will Rock You,” “Let’s Go Crazy,” “Baby I’m a Star,” “Proud Mary,” “All Along the Watchtower,” and “Best of You” – all while it was raining!
