Kendrick Lamar‘s jeans may have people searching for money trees.
During the Super Bowl LIX Halftime Show in New Orleans on February 9, “HUMBLE.” the rapper gave a concert filled with hits, joined by special guests SZA, Serena Williams, and Samuel L. Jackson. However, it was his stylish flared jeans that almost outshone everyone else’s performance.
In a standout display, Kendrick Lamar, who’s track “Not Like Us” (previously associated with Drake) garnered attention, showcased a unique varsity jacket tailor-made by British designer Martine Rose. The jacket bore the name “Gloria”, a reference to a song from his latest album titled GNX. He paired this with a black t-shirt, a reversed baseball cap, black and white sneakers, a striking diamond necklace adorned with a large “a” and, let’s not forget, the iconic flared jeans that had home viewers in an uproar.
It’s interesting to note that the high-waisted, wide-legged denim pants were actually created by Hedi Slimane specifically for Celine. They first appeared during the Spring/Summer 2020 fashion show held in 2019. According to The New York Times, these designer jeans retail at a price of $1,300 each.
Originally, the jeans were crafted as a homage to the iconic French singer-songwriter Serge Gainsbourg. This was revealed on Hedi’s official Instagram account after Kendrick’s performance, further emphasizing that the rapper donning these jeans underscores the lasting impact of Slimane’s designs.
It seems that a significant number of viewers have shown a willingness to change their preferred denim style due to the eye-catching outfit in question.
“I think Kendrick Lamar’s jeans are the real MVP,” one person declared on X. “Love the cut.”
A different user commented that the person who dressed Kendrick Lamar in those jeans should get a PROMOTION, as his thighs and backside appeared absolutely STUNNING in them, GOODNESS GRACIOUS!
Absolutely, I simply couldn’t tear my eyes away from the electrifying moments during the Grammy winner’s sensational halftime performance! When Kendrick Lamar took the stage and performed “Not Like Us,” a track rumored to be about his reported former relationship with Serena Williams, it was mind-blowing to see her confidently crip walking alongside him. It was a moment that truly encapsulated their shared spirit and resilience.
In an exciting turn of events, Serena posted on the platform once known as Twitter, expressing her enthusiasm with the words, ‘Let’s go Super Bowl halftime!’ She accompanied this message with a video clip showcasing her backstage moments after her unexpected appearance. Her exuberance was palpable, as she exclaimed, ‘I couldn’t help but feel a bit starstruck!’
In a different video, she mentioned her well-known repetition of that very dance, following her victory in the 2012 London Olympics (held at Wimbledon), where she earned a gold medal.
“Man, I did not crip walk like that at Wimbledon,” Serena said. “I would be fined!”
