Apart from being renowned for his role as Marty Hopkirk in Randall and Hopkirk (Deceased), this actor also made a name for himself by appearing on shows such as Brookside, Casualty, The Bill, and Kavanagh QC.

I’m deeply saddened to share this news, but here goes: On the 11th of September, 2024, I bid farewell to my dear friend and family member, Kenneth Cope, who was born on the 14th of April, 1931.

Yesterday, I bid a fond farewell to a legendary figure of British cinema, Ken. He peacefully departed from this world surrounded by his beloved wife and family. A towering icon in our television and film industry, he was most famously recognized for his captivating portrayals – as Marty Hopkirk in Randall and Hopkirk, Jed Stone on Coronation Street, and as an indispensable part of the Carry On team. The memories of his performances will continue to entertain and inspire us for generations to come.

Over a span of six decades, Ken has been instrumental in shaping some of the most memorable aspects of British culture. Born and raised in Liverpool, he is an ardent fan of Everton Football Club.

We’re profoundly sorrowful over his demise. At this delicate moment, we kindly request privacy for his family. His devoted wife, Renny Lister, along with their children, Nick, Mark, and Martha, are the ones who continue his legacy.

Through a social media post, Sandra Chalmers, his agent, declared the demise of a genuine legend, Kenneth Cope. His last televised performance was back in 2009, where he starred as Jed Stone on the ITV soap opera for a total of 128 episodes.
