As a lifestyle connoisseur, I recently marked my 70th milestone by paying tribute to the enduring bond I shared with the legendary Whitney Houston.
Actor from ‘Yellowstone’ posted a heartwarming picture with Whitney Houston from their set in the romantic thriller, ‘The Bodyguard’, in 1992. In his caption for the January 18th post, he expressed his longing for his late co-star and shared how much he values each birthday since Whitney’s passing was a significant loss to us all.
The image, initially shared on the Instagram of the late singer, depicts two actors standing alongside Ellin La Var, who was Houston’s hairstylist at that time. Following her death in 2012, Houston’s estate, which runs the account, extended birthday wishes to Costner in the caption. In response, he posted a heart emoji as a comment.
The collection of old photos didn’t end, but Costner continued the celebration of reaching his 70th milestone by posting an infant photo of himself, dressed like a cowboy.
I appreciate your birthday greetings! Ever since I could walk, I’ve been living the cowboy life and that hasn’t changed yet – a hint at my four-year role as John Dutton on Yellowstone and my subsequent Horizon movies. Here’s to another year of pursuing our dreams!
Regarding Costner’s connection with Houston, it’s not new that he honors her memory. In June, the Academy Award winner shared thoughts on the eulogy he delivered at her funeral, disclosing that he was instructed to abbreviate his speech so CNN could broadcast ads during the service. On Dax Shepard’s Armchair Expert podcast, Costner recalled saying, “They can run commercials while I’m talking, I don’t mind.
On the other hand, Costner spoke for seventeen minutes straight without interruption. He exclaimed, “[I] returned to that church in Newark, and it was packed. It was electrifying. Two bands were performing… the church pulsed with life. It was exhilarating, like a powerful surge!
Additionally, it was disclosed that Houston was initially his preferred pick for the female lead role in The Bodyguard, and he had assured Clive Davis—her producer back then—that she would excel in the movie. In the film, Houston portrayed Rachel Maron, a popstar character who develops romantic feelings for her bodyguard (depicted by Costner) while he safeguards her from a stalker.
In conversation with Shepard, Costner stated, “I was both the star of it, its creator, and the one who selected her. I had a deep affection for her. It wasn’t some grand enigma; I simply knew that she was the right choice.
