Kevin Feige Confirms Fantastic Four: First Steps’ Wrap Date (and It’s Soon)

As a hardcore Marvel fan with decades of comic book history under my belt, I must say I’m absolutely thrilled about the upcoming Fantastic Four reboot, “First Steps.” The fact that Kevin Feige himself wore a Fantastic Four cap during his announcement speaks volumes about the excitement brewing within Marvel Studios.

Marvel Studios’ “Fantastic Four: First Steps” is set to conclude its filming process next week, as confirmed by Kevin Feige, head of Marvel Studios. This information was shared at a Disney event in Singapore on Wednesday, as reported by Deadline. Feige mentioned that the production for “The Fantastic Four” will be completed by the last week of November. With approximately eight months left for post-production work, the film is scheduled to hit theaters on July 25, 2025.

2024 found me, your friendly gamer, at the Disney APAC Content Showcase, rocking a snazzy baseball cap emblazoned with the iconic Fantastic Four logo. With a hearty grin, I shared some thrilling news: “At long last, Marvel’s First Family is joining the MCU! The production wraps next week, and the movie will hit theaters the following summer. Once they’re out, you can bet those characters will be front and center in the next Avengers flicks – I can hardly contain my excitement for the Fantastic Four’s future in our universe!” This upcoming MCU adventure has me positively buzzing for 2025!

First Steps represents a fresh take on the long-time cinematic journey of The Fantastic Four. Over the past few decades, this iconic team has graced the silver screen multiple times. This new iteration features Pedro Pascal as Reed Richards, Vanessa Kirby as Sue Storm, Joseph Quinn as Johnny Storm, and Ebon Moss-Bachrach as Ben Grimm. The film will introduce the cosmic entity Galactus, portrayed by Ralph Ineson, who is known for devouring worlds. Additionally, Julia Garner will bring to life the Silver Surfer, Galactus’ herald.

As Marvel’s film synopsis states, the movie is set in a futuristic world reminiscent of the 1960s, where the Fantastic Four must defend Earth from cosmic threats Galactus and the Silver Surfer. This storyline seems to bypass their usual origin narrative, as they exist in an alternate timeline separate from other Marvel Cinematic Universe characters. The character Victor von Doom, portrayed by Robert Downey Jr., who is new to the MCU, may make his debut, although he won’t be a central figure in this story.

Feige’s Look Ahead

In an impartial manner, Feige addressed the audience in Singapore, discussing Marvel’s significant endeavors slated for 2025, including “Thunderbolts.” He described it as a reflection of Marvel’s essence: “It’s about blending characters from various backgrounds and franchises. That’s what the Avengers are, that’s what the Guardians of the Galaxy are.” Additionally, he expressed his plans to seamlessly integrate the X-Men into the main storyline of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU).

He mentioned that our upcoming movies will feature some familiar X-Men characters, continuing a trend, he explained. “Following this, the saga of Secret Wars paves the way for a new era of mutants and X-Men,” he continued. “It’s truly a dream come true as we are now able to bring back the X-Men.
