Kevin Smith Releases Movie Poster for The 4:30 Movie

As a long-time gamer and movie enthusiast who grew up in the ’80s, I can’t help but feel a deep sense of nostalgia when I hear about Kevin Smith‘s latest project, “The 4:30 Movie.” The poster alone brings back memories of my own childhood experiences at the local movie theater.

Kevin Smith unveiled the theatrical poster for his new film, titled “The 4:30 Movie“, which is scheduled for release. This R-rated production, set in 1986, is based on some of the mischievous activities that Smith and his friends used to engage in around their old movie theater. As part-owner of the theater now, Smith filmed most of the movie there and intends to hold the film’s premiere there as well. He revealed on Instagram that he will debut the first trailer during his Hall H panel at San Diego Comic Con this coming Saturday and that it will be available online on Monday.

Based on Smith’s post, revealed below, tickets for the premiere will be available for purchase starting Monday. The event will take place at Smodcastle Cinemas in New Jersey and functions as a fundraiser for the theater. Given that the theater is classified as a 501C(3) charity organization, ticket sales are regarded as charitable donations.

On the poster, Nick Cirillo dons an old Atlantic Cinemas T-shirt displaying its former logo. This was before Smith’s Smodcastle rebrand took effect in 2022. The poster includes Cirillo along with his co-stars, Reed Northrup, Austin Zajur, and Siena Agudong. Fans of Smith might recognize Zajur as Blockchain Coltrane from “Clerks III.” He also acted in Smith’s 2020 webseries “Son-in-Lockdown,” and off-camera, he is Harley, Smith’s daughter’s longtime partner.

When we purchased Smodcastle Cinemas that day, I didn’t just gain control of a significant piece of my past, but also obtained an intriguing and cost-free venue for filming! Smith expressed in a statement. Therefore, I began crafting a heartfelt ode to our ’70s and ’80s childhoods – the era before the internet reigned supreme. For us kids from that time, romance and relationships demanded more than a casual swipe to ignite, and asking out someone we had a crush on was as nerve-wracking as facing the imminent fear of nuclear war.

Here’s the official synopsis for the film:

In the sunny season of 1986, “The 4:30 Movie” is a heartfelt tale that follows the journey of three sixteen-year-old pals (portrayed by Austin Zajur, Nicholas Cirillo, and Reed Northrup). Every Saturday, they secretly attend movies at their local cinema. However, when one friend brings along the girl he admires deeply (Siena Agudong) to watch the newest comedy, each of these teenagers will discover valuable lessons about life and love before the film concludes.

An illustrious group of actors graces the cast, headed by Ken Jeong, Sam Richardson, Genesis Rodriguez, Justin Long, Jason Lee, Rachel Dratch, Kate Micucci, Adam Pally, Harley Quinn Smith, and Method Man.

Liz Destro, Josh Bachove, and Jordan Monsanto are the film’s producers. Bill Bromiley and Shanan Becker serve as executive producers.
