Kim Kardashian Steps Out in Paris After Emotional Testimony in Robbery Trial

Following her gripping courtroom testimony regarding the 2016 Paris robbery, the proprietor of SKIMS was spotted dining out in the city with her mother, Kris Jenner, at the prestigious Le Voltaire restaurant.

On our May 13 excursion, I chose an elegant brown maxi dress with spaghetti straps and a striking high slit at the front, paired with a matching oversized fur jacket that I draped nonchalantly over my shoulders. Today, I found myself recounting a harrowing experience from my past during a court hearing – the chilling incident that unfolded at the No Address Hotel back in October 2016. That fateful night, masked intruders burst into my room, instilling a deep sense of dread as they bound and gagged me. They then callously deposited me in a bathtub, all while pilfering an estimated $10 million worth of my prized jewelry.

In that moment, I was convinced it was then they were about to fire at me,” the Kardashians star expressed to the court, as reported by BBC. “Therefore, I prayed for my family, my mom, my sister, and my best friend. I truly believed I was going to perish.

After her testimony, a statement written by one of the defendants, Aomar Ait Khedache, was read out loud following his arrest in 2017. In this statement, he confessed to his wrongdoings and expressed remorse for the harm he inflicted upon Kim Kardashian (then wife of Kanye West) and their children – North West (age 11), Saint West (age 9), Chicago West (age 7), and Psalm West (age 6) – as a result of the incident.

In response to his message, the reality TV personality offered her forgiveness. 

During the court proceedings, as reported by NBC News, she expressed to Aomar, “I truly value your letter, I’m willing to forgive the past events. However, it doesn’t erase the emotions, the pain, the trauma, and the profound impact on my life that remains.

Following the armed robbery that occurred on October 3, 2016, in Paris, Kim Kardashian refrained from posting personal content on her social media accounts until January of the following year. This coincided, perhaps not surprisingly, with the promotional period for the upcoming season of “Keeping Up With the Kardashians,” which premiered in March 2017 and included Kim’s initial comments about the incident.

During this temporary collaboration with Parisian officials, she decided to speak out publicly about her family’s popular TopMob series, which had been ongoing for quite some time.

In conversation with Kourtney Kardashian, who happened to be sharing a room with Kim during their unfortunate journey but was absent when the burglary took place, and Khloe Kardashian, Kim reminisced about lying in bed, wrapped in a robe, as she contemplated whether to get up and cleanse her face while dozing off.

After that, she began to hear a thumping sound ascending the staircase, heading towards her room. Assuming it was Kourtney and her friend returning inebriated, she shouted out.

At that instant, when no answer was forthcoming, Kim expressed her feelings in a confessional, “My heart suddenly became very anxious, similar to a knot in your stomach. You find yourself asking, ‘What’s happening, what’s happening?’ I could sense something wasn’t quite as it should be.

Peeking through her partly ajar door, she perceived figures she believed to be police officers pinning down another man, later identified as the building’s concierge.

A few moments passed, and Kim found herself uncertain about dialing 911 in this foreign land. Shortly after, one of the men, disguised as a policeman, entered the room, snatched her phone away, and roughly pushed her onto the bed.

Reflecting on that moment, I couldn’t help but say to my sisters, “This is the crux of it all.” The thought of what could happen was both terrifying and overwhelming. Either I would be met with a hail of bullets from behind, or if I managed to escape, there seemed to be no way out.

Of the jewelry she lost, “It’s all replaceable, none of it matters.”

Before the March 19 episode premiered, Kim explained sharing her story in this way.

Tonight’s post on Instagram was particularly difficult for her to write, as it accompanied the last family photo from Paris, featuring herself, Kourtney, Kendall Jenner, and mom Kris Jenner. She felt compelled to share this personal story from her perspective, rather than through an interview where her words might be misconstrued. This experience was one of the most significant in her life, and she’s grateful for having the opportunity to reflect on it. Eventually, 12 individuals were accused, and by May 2025, a total of 10 stood trial. Regrettably, one of the accused had passed away prior to the trial, while another was found medically unfit to participate in the court proceedings.

Kim expressed during her April 2017 interview on The Ellen DeGeneres Show that it may seem unusual, but she believes the events in her life, including the one in question, were intended to occur. She stated that she’s transformed significantly since then…She feels strongly that experiences like these are meant to educate us, and this was certainly an instance of that. Prior to this incident, Kim admitted to being materialistic, valuing possessions highly. However, she’s not criticizing those who value success or hard work, as she is herself proud of her friends and family for their achievements. What she’s most content with now is that her children are experiencing the ‘new’ version of her, and this is how she’s raising them, because material things no longer hold the same importance to her.

As for me, once known for my penchant for showcasing my jewels, I carried almost my entire collection during my voyage to Paris. However, I now assert, “I’ve evolved beyond that persona.

Kim shared with Ellen DeGeneres that if she could do things differently, she would have had a security guard stationed outside her door around the clock while traveling. She confessed that this was something she hadn’t given much thought to before, but now, for her peace of mind, she has several guards on duty.

I hadn’t set foot in the City of Light for quite some time, until June 2018 when I made a return to Paris alongside my then-spouse Kanye West. Our destination was our dear friend Virgil Abloh’s inaugural show as the artistic director of menswear at Louis Vuitton, a significant milestone in his remarkable career.

Kim pondered, “Though I’m feeling jittery, I believe it’s crucial that we accompany Kanye on this journey,” she shared with Khloe and Kourtney. “It seems like the appropriate action for Virgil’s sake.

During a confession in “Keeping Up With the Kardashians,” she mused, “I have many cherished moments in Paris. I’m hoping this trip will be so wonderful that it helps me recall all the enchanting aspects of Paris, reminding me of why Kanye and I fell in love with it.

After returning to Los Angeles, Kim confided to her sisters that she had been feeling rather anxious during her travels, but overall, she managed to keep herself together and appear okay.

“It was so good,” she said. “Like, honestly, I’m so glad we went.”

After the robbery, Kim might have discovered her sense of purpose and understanding, and she may have rearranged her priorities. However, it’s undeniable that this incident was truly terrifying for her.

Back on an October 2019 episode of Felony Files, I admitted that what I experienced was the most terrifying ordeal I’ve ever encountered in all my years. It wasn’t just fear creeping up on me; it was the realization that death was imminent. I found myself preparing for the instant they’d pull the trigger and end my life. Those long, harrowing 10 minutes completely transformed my existence.

On an episode of “My Next Guest Needs No Introduction” released in October 2020, Kim shared more about her personal story with David Letterman.

According to Kim, two men in masks approached her, speaking French forcefully, leaving her startled and sitting up. They repeatedly demanded “The ring, the ring,” which she later understood referred to her engagement ring that she had placed beside the bed. In a moment of confusion, she handed over her ring, and the man grabbed her. At the time, Kim was wearing a robe without any clothing underneath it.

Blinking back tears, Kim added, “I don’t want to ruin my makeup.”

Kim went on to say, “He grabbed me and dragged me close. Since I wasn’t wearing anything beneath, I braced myself for what was about to come, thinking, ‘This is it, I’m going to be raped, so just endure it, it’s inevitable.’ So I did, and then—I can’t explain why I’m tearing up now, as I’ve shared this story before—but he restrained me with handcuffs, zip ties, and later duct tape, covering my mouth and eyes.

Before he concealed her view, Kim exclaimed, “I noticed he discovered my entire jewelry box and brandished it triumphantly, saying something like, ‘Gotcha!’ Now, you understand, like, ‘We’ve won.’ However, I continued to focus on the concierge [who had been compelled to open her door under threat of a gun] because I didn’t recognize him, and I thought, ‘What is going on? Are we in danger? Just let them know I have kids, I have infants, I have a spouse, I have a family, like I need to get home! Tell them to take whatever they want, I won’t say I saw them, just take everything!’

During the robbery, when one of the thieves aimed a gun at her, Kim shared with David Letterman that she was preoccupied with thoughts about Kourtney. She feared that if anything happened to her, Kourtney would return home to find her dead in the room and be traumatized for life. Since they were sharing a room and even on Kourtney’s bed, Kim felt that this was her destiny.

She went on, “Regarding the man who didn’t possess a firearm, he repeatedly said something like ‘If you stay quiet, you’ll be fine.’

“He could hardly speak English,” Kim added, “but I was like, ‘Okay, is he giving me a signal?’”

Kim jokingly stated that she’s seen every episode of ‘CSI’ ever produced,” she explained, sharing her attempt to mentally capture her attacker’s image for a police description. However, she admitted, “all those details just slipped my mind.

Following her restraint, Kim explained, “He lifted me and placed me into a bathtub. Then, he scooped me up once more and simply set me down on the floor before rushing off.

Following the robbery in Paris, Kim mentioned on an episode of The Kardashians that she hasn’t purchased any jewelry since then. This was after Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana gifted her a striking cross necklace in the fall of 2022 as a token of gratitude for directing their Dolce & Gabbana Spring-Summer 2023 fashion show. Kim explained, “I’ve actually been avoiding jewelry since it was stolen from me. I wasn’t expecting that incident and its impact on me. But now, I feel ready to let go of it.

She explained, “Receiving the diamond cross necklace signified much more than just a simple accessory for me. It essentially rekindled some of my allure and that’s why it holds such significance, as it was returned to me following a particularly significant encounter.
