Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 – Everything You Need to Know

Preparing for its upcoming launch on February 4, “Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2” is poised to offer an authentic, grounded open-world action RPG experience that sets it apart from many games in the genre. As anticipation builds ahead of its release, let’s delve into some crucial aspects of the game, such as its open world setting, the type of gameplay experience it promises, and other intriguing details.

SETTING

One of Kingdom Come: Deliverance’s standout features was its immersive open-world environment, which prided itself on realism. Warhorse Studios aims to replicate this authenticity with Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2, which is set in the early 15th century. The game will transport players back to an allegedly accurate and realistic rendition of Central Bohemia. Additionally, expect a significantly larger world in this sequel, but more on that later.

STORY

Under the title “Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2,” as the name suggests, this sequel picks up right where its predecessor left off, leaving many players in awe when Warhorse Studios initially announced it. This time around, our former blacksmith protagonist, Henry, will return to the spotlight, finding himself entangled in various large-scale conflicts, while also pursuing his own personal quest for revenge. The game developers have hinted that there will be over 5 hours of cutscenes, ensuring a rich and engaging storyline for players to explore.

TWO MAPS

Sequels often aim for larger and more impressive experiences, and that seems to be the case with “Deliverance 2”. Instead of just one expansive open world, this sequel offers two distinct maps for players to explore. The first map is called the Bohemian Paradise, while the second is Kuttenburg. Interestingly, these two locations are independent of each other and not interconnected. Warhorse Studios claims that the game will be approximately double the size of its predecessor.

KUTTENBURG

In the upcoming game “Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2”, the city of Kuttneburg is set to play a significant role. This bustling center of commerce and civilization during its time was also known for its extensive silver mining, making it an exciting new setting for the IP. Art director Viktor Höschl shared with IGN that their aim is to create a historically accurate, immersive, and believable medieval world. To achieve this authenticity, they are not only consulting their in-house historian but also collaborating closely with universities, historians, museums, re-enactors, and a diverse group of experts from various ethnicities and religious backgrounds, who serve as external advisors during the development process.

LENGTH

Warhorse Studios has left no doubt that the upcoming game, Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2, promises a grand and immersive experience, as evidenced by its substantial playtime. As per its developer, the game is expected to last approximately 80-100 hours for players. For those eager to explore all the optional features, there’s potential for an even more enriching adventure.

REPUTATION SYSTEM

In Deliverance 2, it appears that the concept of choices and their resulting outcomes will be a significant aspect, with a reputation system playing a pivotal role in this dynamic. Your approach to gameplay can shape various types of reputations for Henry, which in turn influences how non-player characters (NPCs) interact with him. For example, if you enjoy stealing frequently, NPCs will respond accordingly. Remarkably, Warhorse Studios has hinted that this reputation will not only affect the behavior of NPCs but also influence the decisions Henry makes, both on smaller (micro) and larger (macro) scales.

COMBAT DETAILS

As a gamer, I found Kingdom Come: Deliverance’s first-person melee combat a bit challenging for some, but it seems that in the sequel, Deliverance 2, they’re making some crucial adjustments. Not only will there be tighter controls and more immediate reactions, but the mechanics are designed to be simpler to grasp. Moreover, the developers have hinted at introducing more significant variations among different weapon types. For example, swords and maces could each have unique fighting styles, advantages, and disadvantages, adding an intriguing layer of depth to the gameplay experience.

CROSSBOWS AND FIREARMS

In Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2, there’s a stronger focus on weapon diversity, and this expansion includes new ranged weapons such as crossbows and firearms, which were not available in the original game. While melee combat remains your main method during fights, you now have the added option to use ranged weapons too.

SURVIVAL ELEMENTS

As a dedicated fan, I’m eagerly anticipating the return of survival elements in “Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2”. It’ll be my responsibility to make sure that the character, Henry, maintains his basic needs – eating and getting enough rest. The choices I make to address these needs will impact the game’s outcome significantly. For instance, if Henry is found napping in an unsuitable location, he’ll be rudely awakened instead of being allowed to complete his sleep. Moreover, the location of my sleep could put Henry at risk of ambushes and attacks while he’s unconscious.

ALCHEMY

In the game Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2, Henry’s occupation as a blacksmith remains central, yet alchemy plays a significant role in the gameplay. Players will often venture out into the world to collect resources, which they can later use to concoct various potions, including the familiar saving potion.

GRAPHICS MODES

According to Warhorse Studios’ announcement, the upcoming game “Deliverance 2” offers two modes: Performance and Fidelity. The Performance mode on PS5 and Xbox Series X provides an upscaled resolution of 1440p at a steady 60 frames per second (FPS), while the Fidelity mode offers an upscaled 4K resolution at 30 FPS on these platforms. For those using the Xbox Series S, the game will run at a 1080p resolution and 30 FPS, with no option for 60 FPS available.

PS5 PRO ENHANCEMENTS

It’s no surprise that Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 is additionally confirmed to support PlayStation 5 Pro. Beyond the previously mentioned Performance and Fidelity modes, on Sony’s advanced console, the game will offer a Pro mode. This mode will run the game at an upscaled 4K resolution (thanks to PSSR) and 60 frames per second.

PC REQUIREMENTS

If you’re eager to enjoy Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 on your PC, be aware that the system requirements can be quite demanding. For a basic experience at 1080p resolution with 30 frames per second (FPS), you’ll need an i5-8400 or Ryzen 5 2600 CPU, coupled with either a GeForce GTX 1060 or Radeon RX 580 graphics card, and 16 GB of RAM. For a more optimal experience at 1440p resolution with 60 FPS, you’ll need an i5-13600K or Ryzen 5 7600X CPU, a GeForce RTX 3060 Ti or Radeon RX 6700 XT graphics card, and a whopping 24 GB of RAM. Regardless of the setup you choose, an SSD and approximately 100 GB of free storage space are also essential requirements.

HIGH AND ULTRA REQUIREMENTS

To enjoy Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 at its best, your PC setup should be quite robust. Aiming for a 1440p resolution and 60 frames per second on high settings requires an i7-13700K or a Ryzen 7 7800X3D CPU, along with either a GeForce RTX 4070 or a Radeon RX 7800 XT graphics card, and no less than 32 GB of RAM. If you wish to crank up the settings to ultra, the requirements remain mostly the same, except for the GPU where you’ll need either a GeForce RTX 4080 or a Radeon RX 7900 XT.

EXPANSIONS

It’s evident that “Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2” won’t fall short on content when it launches, and Warhorse Studios has plans to enrich the post-release experience even further. The developer has confirmed that they will roll out three expansion packs for the action RPG, but details about these expansions are scarce at this point. We can expect more information once the game is available.
