Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 – Hammer And Tongs Quest Walkthrough

In the hypothetical sequel to “Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2“, you may encounter various side missions during your travels, such as “Hammer And Tongs”. These quests might not always appear on your map but can be activated by conversing with specific characters. To initiate this particular quest, engage in dialogue with a blacksmith located in Grund.

In this scenario, Henry is set to participate in a blacksmithing contest. It’s important to mention that if he decides to join, he could potentially earn several hundred Groschen and receive a moderately good sword as rewards for completing the challenge. We’ll walk you through an effortless way to accomplish this quest.

How To Start The Hammer And Tongs Quest

You can start by speaking to Blacksmith Zdminir, who is located in Grund in the Kuttenberg Region.

As a fan, I’d say: The mystical town of Grund is located to the east of Devil’s Den. So, keep going straight along the road from where you are now. When you reach a wooden platform, veer left. After that, follow the pathway as it gently curves to your right, and before long, you’ll spot the blacksmith on your left-hand side.

As a devoted fan, I encourage you to engage with him and seize the opportunity to join the contest. Notably, he’ll supply you with two pieces of steel and one piece of scrap metal. With that in hand, let’s craft the competition sword!

To embark on this quest, it’s essential that you’ve wrapped up Speak of the Devil prior. Similar experiences occurred for us when we proceeded with Hammer and Tongs following the Oratores quest. Keep these prerequisites in mind as you plan your journey.

How To Complete The Hammer And Tongs Quest

Start blacksmithing by interacting with the anvil, and make sure tochoose the competition sword. First, you need tomake sure the workpiece turns orangeat the forge. If you heat it for too long, don’t worry.Henry will tell you that you are burning it.

Once finished, shift your workpiece to the anvil and begin tapping it uniformly. Henry will remind you if anything’s amiss. Then, flip it over and tap the opposite side too.

Repeat this process until the blacksmithing is completed.

As we crafted the sword, our skill level was at eight, and executing it perfectly led to a competition-grade sword of tier three.

To have a chance against Matthias, your sword should ideally reach at least level three. It’s not particularly challenging.

Once you’ve crafted the sword, go back and chat with Zdminir again and inform him that it’s now ready. If your sword is a level three, he will be genuinely impressed by you during a scene. But, if you happen to lose, you’ll have to pay 100 Groschen, and naturally, the sword you made will also be taken away from you.

Rewards

After winning the contest, you’ll get 200 Groschens as your prize. During the scene, Henry requests Matthias’ sword, but he refuses and insists on fighting instead. Essentially, you have two options: either pass a skill check or engage in a battle with him.

Skipping the third option means disregarding this conflict entirely. However, if you’re intent on acquiring his sword, a battle becomes inevitable.

You won’t find it difficult to overpower him as his combat abilities aren’t exceptional. Just employ your regular attack sequences, and he’ll likely yield. After that, a simple conversation should lead to him surrendering his sword to you.

The sword’s main stat is 62 and can be sold to the same blacksmith for 8.1 Groschen.
