In the sequel to “Kingdom Come: Deliverance,” titled “Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2“, the primary mission, “Hunger and Despair,” finds our protagonist, Henry, and his companions struggling with severe hunger and rising frustration.

This is a speedy mission where you need to locate food for Hans, protect the ramparts of Suchdol, and engage in numerous conversations with your allies.

Although the journey may seem brief, it could prove challenging for Henry given the limited resources he currently possesses during this stage in the narrative.

This comprehensive tutorial offers helpful advice and clarifications for finishing the “Hunger and Despair” mission within the game “Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2”.

How to Find Food for Hans

The first objective of the Hunger and Despair quest is to get some food for Capon.

Approach Janosh in the lower dining room and request some food from him, but be prepared as he might decline because of insufficient supplies.

The Cunning Coyote may intrude upon your chat and suggest that acquiring food is possible by hunting down the faithful hound.

If you feel compassion towards the dog and don’t wish to harm it, rest assured, there’s an alternative solution for feeding Hans.

Making Shoe Soup

Address Musa, Godwin, Sam, and Kubyenka for a light-hearted conversation about transforming shoes into soup. With their increasing hunger driving them to experiment with unconventional solutions, it falls on Henry’s shoulders to locate Lady Frenzl’s footwear.

Navigate up to Lady Frenzl’s chamber, which is situated at the highest level of the castle (you may opt for a guidepost), and hunt for a treasure chest within. Once found, seize the pair of shoes contained within.

Keep in mind that the chest’s lockpicking difficulty is hard.

After acquiring the shoes, make your way back to Musa and the group, so they can transform the shoes into a soup. Then, take that soup to Hans. Upon delivering the shoe soup, the funeral proceedings will commence.

Making Dog Soup

Should you opt to procure food for dear old Hans, it merely requires a swift strike with a blade or a well-aimed arrow to bring down his canine companion.

1. Locate the dog in the northern part of Suchdol, as depicted in the attached image.

2. After finding it, take necessary actions to eliminate the dog humanely.

3. Once the dog is deceased, butcher its meat for use later.

4. Return with the processed meat to the Dry Devil and deliver it to them as instructed.

The Dry Devil will turn it into Stray Dog Soup for Hans and for you.

Go back to Hans and deliver the Stray Dog Soup to alleviate his hunger. After you’ve given him the meal, the funeral service for our lost companions can commence.

Defending the Suchdol Battlements

During the funeral, you take control of Godwin who is giving a speech for the fallen soldiers.

In this instance, all the dialogue choices are marked as ‘easy’, which means it’s straightforward to deliver an effective response. Feel free to select your preferred dialogue options, as they don’t affect the completion of the mission in any way.

During the funeral service, there comes another assault on Suchdol, leaving it to Henry and his comrades to safeguard the ramparts.

Hurry to the peak of the castle and seize the Halberd (spear-like weapon, like a Voulge) propped up against the wall. Utilize this to knock over four ladders, all the while warding off the soldiers who’ve breached the fortress.

Following the toppling of four ladders using the Halberd, a cutscene initiates, depicting Hans being fired upon from within the tower. With intruders present, Hans dispatches Henry on a mission to eliminate them.

Hurry into the tower and eliminate the men stationed on the ground floor initially, followed by those on the upper floors. Once they are all neutralized, your primary task becomes removing the ladders that are attached to the tower’s back wall.

Make your way towards the marker that indicates the back wall, then employ your Halberd to topple two ladders in order to complete the task at hand.

Saying Your Goodbyes

Following a quick scene that outlines the upcoming actions in the plan, it falls upon you to bid farewell to all your comrades before joining Samuel on the ramparts. Henry contemplates that this might be the final opportunity for him to converse with them.

Address Hans, Zizka, and Katherine, bid them adieu as you proceed on your journey. If you wish for Katherine to mend all your injuries, speak to her twice to replenish your health bar completely.

To wrap things up as a devoted fan, make your way to the ramparts and choose the “wait” option. Choosing to wait will trigger a cutscene and mark the climactic conclusion of the Hunger and Despair quest in Kingdom Come Deliverance 2.
