Markold meets the Miners
- Final Ending(s): Side with Markold or the Miners
1403 was a time when writing wasn’t commonplace, but it just so happened that the miners looking to address an issue with their manager in Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 had someone they could approach – the well-educated Henry from Skalitz, who had received his education in the previous game.
Initially, it seems like a straightforward request, but soon enough, it transforms into a tangle of illegal activities and deceit.
The choices you make during this adventure significantly impact both your personal riches and the final results for all involved parties, which sets this journey apart as one of the most interactive and engaging ones within the game.
As a dedicated gamer diving into Post Scriptum, here’s a guide that will illuminate your path and help you optimize your loot along the way!
How to Start Post Scriptum

Before embarking on this journey, make sure you’ve finished the primary quest known as “Into the Underworld” first. Subsequently, find your way to an inn situated beyond Kuttenberg’s western gate, where you will encounter a man named Kvyertsolav.
His pals need assistance in composing a written note for their boss, as they are unable to read or write. They’re seeking Henry’s aid for this task.

Indeed, it’s not a simple task: Kvyertsolav lacks any paper or ink, and his demeanor gives off a somewhat suspicious vibe, hinting at the possibility that he might prefer to avoid being overheard.
Rather than telling you where to go, he invites you to visit his friends in a house located north of town. Upon your arrival, be sure to mention the password “Justice is pricier than silver.” Since there’s nothing strange about it, follow his instructions and start your journey.
On this journey, you’ll encounter numerous challenging verbal tasks and intellectual hurdles. If your abilities aren’t sufficiently high, your choices during the adventure may become extremely restricted.
Meeting the Miners

Within the secret hideout, you encounter a couple of men who request Henry to compose their letter for them. You can either write the letter word-for-word as instructed or modify the message according to your discretion, but keep in mind that the choice you make won’t significantly influence the quest’s outcome. The discussion eventually reveals that these men are miners and, unfortunately, they have a bounty on their heads.

It’s been discovered that Markold, the mine’s proprietor, holds several miners captive, and they are currently negotiating for their release. However, should the miners succeed in their negotiation, they may choose to eliminate you to conceal their actions, marking a critical juncture in your journey.
Warning Henry, taking the lives of the miners here could potentially label him as a murderer in Kuttenberg. It’s advisable to save your game first, as a precautionary measure.
First Optional Ending: Defeat the Miners

If persuasion fails (or if you choose to wrap up the mission quickly), you’ll have no choice but to engage in a fight. Should victory prevail, you can search their remains for modest treasures, declare the quest finished, and continue your journey cheerfully.
Delivering the Miners’ Letter

If you successfully persuade them to withdraw, you’ll find yourself facing a new dilemma: either comply with their request and hand over their letter to Markold, or, recognizing them as criminals, choose to take them to the local Bailiff instead.
Second Optional Ending: Law-Abiding Citizen

You should be able to locate the Bailiff without much trouble if you follow the marker on your map. Upon arrival, Henry hands over the letter, reveals the location of the miner’s hideout, and then turns the matter over to the local law enforcement.
The bailiff expresses gratitude towards Henry for his integrity and rewards him with a 100-groschen tip as compensation for any inconvenience. Considering it was just a matter of writing a letter, this isn’t a bad return, but the potential rewards from the quest could be significantly greater.

Rather than taking the letter directly to the shaft owner, follow the quest marker to his house instead. You might need to bypass Markov’s bodyguard, but there’s no need for special persuasive skills or bribes. Once you confront Markov, another decision will present itself: assist him, threaten him, or just hand over the letter and carry on with the miner’s plans.
Third Optional Ending: Blackmailing Markold

You might consider using the letter to attempt extortion against Markold, given his questionable character. This move could require a challenging or very challenging diplomacy check, but if successful, it would boost your local standing and earn you 60 groschen. However, this method concludes the quest in a straightforward manner yet provides the least reward compared to other options, so it might be wiser to explore alternative paths instead.
Fourth Optional Ending: Kill Markold, Tell Miners

Henry has the option to eliminate Markold either before or after your encounter, then go back to the miners claiming he’s dead. This move doesn’t win them over, instead leading to a chaotic confrontation. It turns out that you earn more by plundering the fallen’s belongings compared to extorting Markold, but not significantly so.
Markold meets the Miners

In case both individuals are still active, Henry is expected to head towards the Hloushetz Gate, as indicated on the map. There, he’ll encounter a duo of liberated miners. Since they might not be present when he arrives, he should take a seat and wait for them, extending his wait by one-hour intervals until their arrival.
Engage with them briefly for an increment in your standing, and potentially gain access to track them to their secret lair, paving the way for the resolution of this quest’s climax.
Final Ending(s): Side with Markold or the Miners

At this juncture, Post Scriptum reaches its thrilling end. Markold will interrupt your gathering with the miners, accompanied by a group of armed guards for support. If you decide to align with the mine owner, he’ll compensate you with 100 groschen for your allegiance. Although this sum is greater than what you would get from extortion, it is still less compared to the other option.

You’ll support the miners, and as a reward, you’ll receive 225 groschen, which is more than any other payment Henry receives for this quest. Additionally, you’ll have an opportunity to plunder Markold and his associates! While miners usually only carry small change, Markold’s breastplate alone is valued at over 5000 groschen.
