Kingdom Hearts Video Goes Over What Order to Play the Series in

As a seasoned gamer with years of experience under my belt, I’ve come across my fair share of complex and intricately woven game franchises. But none quite compare to the enigma that is Square Enix’s Kingdom Hearts series. With its numerous entries, spin-offs, and remakes spread across various platforms, it can be a daunting task for newcomers to figure out where to start.

Although only three numbered “Kingdom Hearts” games exist, the franchise includes numerous non-numbered entries released on various platforms over the years. These unexpected additions have significantly impacted the series’ overall storyline in surprising ways. Newcomers to “Kingdom Hearts” may find the complex backstory intimidating. However, Square Enix has produced a new video to guide new players through the experience.

In the newly revealed video from Square Enix, they discuss the suggested sequence for playing the Kingdom Hearts games. While beginning with the latest release, Kingdom Hearts 3, is an option, the video instead advocates following the sequence of the Dark Seeker saga’s releases.

The video primarily focuses on the following games in the Kingdom Hearts series: first, Kingdom Hearts HD 1.5 + 2.5 Remix; next, Re:Chain of Memories; then, Kingdom Hearts 2. After that, it includes a compilation of cutscenes from Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days (or you can play the DS game itself). Subsequently, it covers the Final Mix version of Birth by Sleep. Lastly, it explores Kingdom Hearts HD 2.8 Chapter Prologue in the second collection.

As a longtime fan of the Kingdom Hearts series, I’ve been eagerly anticipating the latest additions to this beloved franchise. Based on my personal experience and knowledge of the saga, I can confidently say that the upcoming releases are going to be quite an exciting journey for both newcomers and veterans alike.

Certainly, some may prefer to experience the game series in order of release, a point discussed in the following video. Given the depth of information, it’s recommended you watch the video for further details.

I’m thrilled to share that Square Enix is reportedly developing “Kingdom Hearts 4” as part of their current projects. There’s a strong possibility we might get a first look at this anticipated title during Disney’s D23 event in August. If all goes according to plan, we could be playing it as early as 2025!
