Kit Harington on controversial Game of Thrones ending: “I think there were mistakes made”

As a devoted fan who has followed the gripping saga of Westeros for nearly a decade, I wholeheartedly empathize with Kit Harington’s exhaustion and the challenges faced during the final season of Game of Thrones. The cast had given their all, and the weight of expectations was immense.

When the final episode of Game of Thrones first aired, fans’ opinions were split.

For some, it was a favorite, but not everyone felt the same; as the story comes to an end for numerous fans, Kit Harington has now shared his thoughts on the finale of the popular fantasy saga.

In a recent chat with GQ Hype, Kit Harington (the man behind Jon Snow) hinted that he might concur with those criticizing the speed of the ending, yet he struggles to envision any other feasible route due to the exhaustion experienced by the entire cast.

“He expressed his opinion that the reason some people might have been unsatisfied with the ending of ‘Thrones’ could be because everyone was simply too exhausted to continue for a longer duration.”

He added: “Some folks believed it was hasty, and I may share their views. However, I’m uncertain if we had other options.”

“Examining photos from the last season, I appear worn out. I seem drained. Honestly, I felt like I had no more energy left for another season.”

Regarding the audience’s response to the series, Harington stated: “Each person has the right to their own viewpoint. I believe that there might have been some errors in the plot as it progressed, particularly towards the end. Some decisions made along the way didn’t turn out quite as intended.”

The ending of the series sparked a lot of debate among fans, as they had differing opinions about the way the showrunners decided to conclude the storyline of Game of Thrones.

While some fans enjoyed the Westeros war, others were unimpressed with the pace of the story.

As a die-hard film enthusiast reflecting a year after the series’ finale, I can’t help but admit that, looking back, there are aspects we, as the creative team, might have handled differently.

As I shared with Entertainment Weekly back then, I haven’t found any particular topic that I feel compelled to openly debate about.
