In a unique, standout episode of Coronation Street, viewers will delve into the intricate history of Kit Green, portrayed by Jacob Roberts, through a compelling flashback sequence.
On Friday, 16th May, an episode is scheduled to be broadcast that will take Coronation Street viewers on a trip back to the year 2007. This episode will delve into the teenage years of Kit, revealing how his past became entangled with Mick (played by Joe Layton) and Lou (portrayed by Farrel Hegarty).
Over the past year since he joined the Coronation Street precinct, the detective has experienced a significant amount of personal issues. Lately, it seems like there’s an undercurrent of strife between Kit and Mick that viewers can feel. However, one might wonder what deeper issues could be causing this tension?
Indeed, I’m quite intrigued about how the upcoming flashback episode will illuminate the past and shed light on the connections that have tied these characters together. It promises to be an enlightening journey!

Indeed, traveling back to their adolescent days implies that we’ll encounter fresh faces portraying the younger characters. It has been verified that Brook Debio will embody Kit, Lewis Walton will take on the role of Mick, and Charlotte Alex-Riley will depict Lou.
Back then was a stark contrast to today, as director Jason Wingard explained about his work on the episode: “We needed to delve deep into what could hint at the period – In 2007, DVDs were still prevalent in stores, music, vehicles, and phones all bore distinctive features.
As a dedicated fan, I found myself deeply immersed in the pre-production process. In this role, I attended numerous meetings across various departments, where we meticulously discussed and planned every detail of the location. Our goal was to make sure that the right cars and homes were strategically placed within the scene, all with the ultimate aim of creating the perfect ambiance for the episode, capturing the essence we sought to convey.
Directing this episode has been an extraordinary journey that I’m extremely satisfied with, thanks to the exceptional acting by the cast. Everyone involved, from the cast to the crew, was simply outstanding, making the entire process incredibly thrilling.
Roberts added that it was rewarding to explore Kit’s past in an upcoming episode, as this would help viewers understand his character better. Unlike Mick, who seems to have embraced his old life, Kit had lived a completely different existence before and has made significant efforts to move on from it.
The appearance of Mick and Lou has undeniably unnerved Kit. As a Detective Constable, he is tasked with preserving tranquility in Weatherfield, yet he recognizes these two as potential sources of strife. Given that Kit himself resembled Mick and Lou during his youth, their past association looms ominously over him, instilling a sense of dread lest his past resurface to torment him once more.
Meeting Brook, who portrayed young Kit, was an oddly fascinating encounter – it felt like running into a younger reflection of me in some way!
