For years, enthusiasts of Electronic Arts (EA) and Respawn Entertainment’s action-packed futuristic shooter series Titanfall have eagerly anticipated a genuine sequel to 2016’s Titanfall 2. Despite sharing the same universe, the free-to-play hero shooter battle royale game Apex Legends, released in 2019, offers significantly different gameplay mechanics. However, based on one reliable source, it seems that the long-awaited Titanfall 3 may not be in development.
The individual in question, Jeff Grubb from Giant Bomb, who’s recognized for his exclusive game previews, secrets, and speculations about forthcoming titles, declared on Wednesday this week that Titanfall 3 doesn’t exist. This statement was made approximately a week and a half after another source leaked the long-awaited sequel might be released in 2026. Grubb mentioned he anticipated Respawn to reveal the game at The Game Awards 2025, which is due later this year.
As a passionate fan, I must clarify that Titanfall 3 isn’t brewing in the background as some rumors might suggest. Contrary to these leaks, it’s not even in development, let alone nearing completion or on the brink of an official 2026 release. The creative minds at Respawn are currently focused on Apex Legends, Star Wars Jedi: Survivor, and a Star Wars game under the Bitreactor label. They also have Steve Fukuda’s secret project in the pipeline, but it’s still a few years away from seeing the light of day.
fundamentally, Grubb’s information is in opposition to the other leaker’s, even though I should mention that the initial rumor was quite near the jovial holiday, April Fool’s Day. To be precise, it was uploaded to social media on the 3rd of April, but referred to being shared on the 1st of April.
YOROTSUKI admitted, “On April Fool’s Day, I enjoy pulling pranks with a twist of truth. It allows me to share some incredible facts humorously.” Therefore, he confirmed that “Indeed, Titanfall 3 is in the works. Keep in mind, you might have noticed me discussing ‘RSPN developing a SECRET GAME’ in certain Discord servers back in December 2024 – that secret game is none other than Titanfall 3.
As an analyst, I ponder whether we might see Titanfall 3 in the future, given that it hasn’t been officially confirmed yet. Though Respawn Entertainment and Electronic Arts have not explicitly ruled out returning to the series, they did cancel a single-player Titanfall game in 2023. Nevertheless, the studio continues to mull over Titanfall, which could be advantageous for Apex Legends. Consequently, it’s plausible that they may revisit their initial intellectual property at some point in the future.

According to Grubb’s statement, it’s clear that Respawn Entertainment is collaborating with Bit Reactor and Lucasfilm Games on a Star Wars turn-based strategy game. They plan to unveil a sneak peek of the game on April 19th. Additionally, they are rumored to be working on the sequel to Star Wars Jedi: Survivor, an action RPG in the Soulslike genre. Moreover, Steve Fukuda, the director of Titanfall, is reportedly leading a future project for Respawn Entertainment, although it’s not Titanfall 3.
If it turns out that Titanfall 3 isn’t being released, it will undoubtedly be a further letdown for fans who have kept their hopes high over the years despite persistent Titanfall 2 server problems and a dearth of updates that started soon after the game was launched, leaving them feeling frustrated.
Despite some age, this game offers a remarkable experience with its robust campaign and outstanding multiplayer mode. What’s more, it comes at a budget-friendly price, often going on sale for deep discounts. At the moment, you can grab the PC version for only $3.89 at CDKeys, while the Xbox One edition is available for just $8.96 at Walmart. If you’re subscribed to Xbox Game Pass Ultimate, you’ll also gain access to Titanfall 2 as part of your EA Play membership.
