As a seasoned gamer with over two decades of gaming under my belt, I must admit that the latest speculation surrounding Ella Purnell and Hideo Kojima’s upcoming masterpiece, Death Stranding 2: On the Beach, has me on the edge of my seat!
Supporters of renowned video game director Hideo Kojima speculate that Ella Purnell, known for her role in Fallout, might feature in Death Stranding 2: On the Beach. In the past few days, Kojima has been sharing several new posters for Death Stranding 2 on the PlayStation 5, which depict silhouettes of actors and actresses set to appear in the game. The most recent poster has sparked theories that Purnell could be the mystery star hinted by Kojima.
Today on social media, Kojima shared another poster for the upcoming game “Death Stranding 2”, which includes an actor who’s been working on the sequel. Soon after posting, many fans speculated that the silhouette resembles Ella Purnell. However, some believe that Kojima is hinting at the Japanese cast for “Death Stranding 2”. If this is correct, it suggests that the shadowy figure isn’t Ella Purnell, but another actor from Japan.

There’s speculation that Purnell might be connected to Kojima regarding the potential sequel to “Death Stranding” due to their past interactions. Back in 2023, Kojima shared a photo on social media showing them meeting in person for some reason or another. More recently, they met over Zoom less than a month ago. It’s unclear whether these meetings are connected to projects that Kojima is currently working on or just casual catch-ups, but it’s not unlikely that Purnell could be part of the “Death Stranding 2” project.
It seems whatever Kojima has been hinting at lately might not be kept under wraps for much longer. Over the past week, he’s been unveiling a new “Who Am I?” poster daily. There’s a good chance that this series could reach its climax with the full reveal of all four posters on August 23rd, wrapping up the week. However, there’s also a possibility that Kojima might extend the suspense to keep fans intrigued for a while longer.
Independent of any changes, it’s been confirmed that Death Stranding 2: On the Beach is set for release sometime in 2025. No matter when it’s released next year, it will first appear exclusively on the PlayStation 5.
