Konami and FIFA Have Entered Into an Esports Collaboration Agreement

As a seasoned gamer with over two decades of virtual football under my belt, I must admit that this recent partnership between Konami and FIFA has piqued my interest. The nostalgia of playing Konami’s Pro Evolution Soccer (PES) games during my formative years is still fresh in my memory, and the thought of revisiting that experience, now in the realm of esports, is tantalizing.

Previously, EA and FIFA had a long-term agreement, but that ended a couple of years ago. Since then, FIFA has stated that they are developing their own game with new collaborators (reportedly 2K), however, it seems they have teamed up with another company for esports-related projects, a company with extensive experience in football simulation games.

Konami has revealed a partnership with FIFA, which will involve both organizations working together globally to advance esports. To begin with, there will be two FIFA World Cup esports tournaments taking place this year, one of which has already begun in 2023. Players from around the world will compete against each other using Konami’s free-to-play football simulation game, eFootball, on both PC and console platforms.

It’s uncertain if Konami and FIFA will expand their partnership beyond eSports in the future, so keep an eye out for updates over the next few weeks and months.
