Kristin Cavallari experienced her own hockey romance.
Three months after the star of “Very Cavallari” hinted at dating a retired athlete during an episode of Bunnie Xo’s “Dumb Blonde Podcast”, she eventually disclosed that the secret suitor was indeed the former NHL player, Nate Thompson.
On the April 1st episode of her “Let’s Be Honest” podcast, Kristin mentioned that he was formerly a professional hockey player. He’s been out of the game for several years now, but he’s found a new role as a father. Furthermore, she stated that he has undergone significant personal growth and they share an incredibly deep connection.
To be truthful,” she continued, “one of the most meaningful connections I’ve made, considering how brief our time together has been.
After some “nosey detectives figured it out on social media,” the 38-year-old proudly shared that she chose to disclose his identity. She then enthusiastically expressed how unique and wonderful their relationship had been.
She expressed that he’s truly an exceptional individual, as the 40-year-old man is concerned. In a brief period, we shared our deepest secrets without reservation. Our connection was incredibly open, truthful, and wonderful – perhaps the most authentic, sincere, and extraordinary relationship I have ever experienced.
Kristin, an alumna from Hills, couldn’t shake off a feeling of something lacking. She clarified that Nate wasn’t her boyfriend, but someone she had been romantically involved with. After years of long-distance relationships, Kristin found it challenging to distinguish between falling in love and idealizing the person she was with.
And in this case, there was an inexplicable spark that was missing from their time together.
Kristin said, “For me, that spark has to be blazing hot for me to want to be with someone. This person here is a great illustration of that – it’s like I keep asking myself, ‘Why can’t I fall in love with you?’ If given the choice, I would pick you because you’re an exceptional man and we seem to click so well on all other levels.
She playfully said, “At first, I felt like tearing your clothes apart,” but then added with a laugh, “Everything was there, yet I wasn’t ready for a romantic involvement.
Kristin, mother of Camden (12), Jaxon (10), and Saylor (9) with her ex-husband Jay Cutler, has stated that at this stage in her life, she finds herself with limited time for relationship building. Consequently, she’s chosen to prioritize her professional growth and patiently await the arrival of her soulmate in due course.
Kristin went on to say, ‘I’m looking for my ideal match,’ she explained, ‘and since I have such a clear vision of what I desire-after all this time and enduring various difficulties-I refuse to accept anything short of precisely what I’ve envisioned.’

As a dedicated fan, I can attest that my first love is never easily forgotten, especially when the spotlight of MTV’s cameras illuminated every up and down in our tumultuous relationship. The world watched as Kristin Cavallari and Stephen Colletti’s love story unfolded on Laguna Beach for two seasons. We started dating a year before the show began filming, and our love triangle with Lauren Conrad became one of TV’s most memorable romantic sagas.
Kristin penned in her 2016 book, Balancing in Heels, “We gave love and battle fiercely. My bond with Stephen evolved from a teenage sweetheart romance to the raw material for a highly popular television series. To me, Stephen was the most significant aspect of my life, and I had no greater concern. Arguments between us on-screen felt like exposing all our private issues.
Despite their romantic relationship not surviving beyond high school, they’ve managed to stay friends. In fact, Kristin mentioned to TopMob News that he might be open to appearing on her show, Very Cavallari.
2022 saw Talan Torriero, a prominent figure in Laguna Beach, opening up to TopMob News about his time on the show. He shared insights that went beyond the LC-Stephen-KCav love triangle, revealing, “In truth, there were multiple storylines unfolding behind the camera’s gaze. Not just with me, but also involving Kristin and Lauren. While in high school, Lauren dated other intriguing individuals who opted out of being on the show or made brief appearances.
Regarding his complicated relationship with Kristin, Talan explained that prior to the show, they were already involved or had brief encounters. He didn’t start spending time with Lauren until his second season, if I recall correctly. With Kristin, it was more during our junior and senior years, on and off.
In the second season opener of “Laguna“, Stephen feels crushed upon discovering that Kristin has found new love in the form of “Matt, a man from USC,” following his departure to attend school.
It turns out that the individual from USC was none other than Matt Leinart, their renowned football quarterback, who later played professionally in the NFL. However, Matt didn’t make it onto the MTV show, and his relationship with Kristin didn’t last long.
In 2008, their meeting in Las Vegas fueled speculation about a potential reconciliation between Kristin and Matt, but as it turns out, they never formally reunited officially.
In the subsequent seasons of “The Hills,” Kristin and Brody Jenner may have staged a romance, but it is a fact that they had dated earlier, just after Kristin’s time on “Laguna Beach” concluded. They were brought together by Talan during this period.
She revealed on Bethenny in 2012 that she went out with Brody when she was 18, following the airing of Laguna Beach. However, their relationship was portrayed as ongoing for several episodes on The Hills.
Despite their relationship being intermittent for nearly an entire year, they ultimately parted ways definitively in 2006. She explained to People magazine that it was tough due to her busy work schedule, but they remained close friends.
In the early months of 2006, Kristin and Nick Lachey, the singer from 98 Degrees, fueled romance speculation as they were seen together. This came a year after his public breakup with Jessica Simpson, his then-spouse.
At that point, Kristin dismissed the gossip, stating to People magazine, “There’s simply nothing to discuss; there’s no ongoing situation. He’s a great individual, but let me clarify, we are just friends.
Initially, she attempted to avoid the sudden, harsh spotlight that had been shone on her. Later on, she confessed this was just an attempt to evade the intense focus.
She expressed that it was an extraordinarily tumultuous period in her life since she unexpectedly became the subject of every tabloid cover on a November 2024 episode of her Let’s Be Honest podcast. During this time, there were numerous photographers constantly trailing her actions, camped outside her home.
After concluding his “Newlyweds” chapter with Jessica, she remarked, “This was absolutely monumental in 2006,” she continued. “It was an exhilarating journey.
A short while later, Kristin moved on to date Nick Zano, a well-recognized actor famous for his role in the WB sitcom titled “What I Like About You“.
The relationship between them was quite intense; Kristin went as far as getting their initials inked on her wrist.
But when the pair called it quits in December 2007, Kristin had the tattoo removed.
In 2008, as a devoted fan following the news, I recall hearing rumors about me supposedly being romantically involved with the man who would later become Captain America. This was allegedly confirmed by reports from The New York Post, stating that they had seen me and Chris Evans, affectionately connected at the launch of Cabana One at the Mayfair Hotel in Miami.
Once more, Kristin found herself dismissing rumors about her personal relationships, explaining to Us Weekly, “Yes, I’ve heard that too! No, we are merely friends. I’ve been acquainted with Chris for some time now, primarily through mutual companions. In reality, I’ve known him for a few years.
During her stint on The Hills, Kristin was portraying relationships with Brody and Justin Bobby Brescia on screen, but in reality, she was discreetly seeing someone off-camera.
In the year 2010, Kristin was in a secret relationship with MTV cameraman Miguel Medina. Even her fellow cast members Heidi Montag and Audrina Patridge were unaware of this romance.
She confided in her ex-colleagues during an episode of “Very Cavallari” that for several months, she had been secretly dating someone. While appearing on the show, she was also dating Brody, but unbeknownst to viewers, Miguel was simultaneously filming their relationship.
Later, she explained that their relationship had become public during the last phase of their professional collaboration due to the fact that paparazzi photographed them at the airport a week prior to finishing the show, which ultimately led to them being discovered.
Following her breakup with Miguel, Kristin soon attracted the attention of Jay Cutler, who was then quarterback for the Chicago Bears. The couple’s romance blossomed, with Jay making a significant move a year into their relationship by proposing in 2011. However, Kristin called off the engagement just a few months later, revealing in her book “Balancing In Heels” that some aspects of their relationship required change.
After carefully setting up their Xs and Os, the duo became parents to son Camden in August 2012, tied the knot in June 2013, and expanded their family with son Jaxon in May 2014 and daughter Saylor in November 2015. Although they appeared to make a strong team, Kristin has recently disclosed details about their relationship dynamics since they announced their divorce in April 2020.
She shared on the “School of Greatness” podcast in 2022 that the most terrifying experience in her life was going through a divorce. However, she also mentioned that it turned out to be the most beneficial thing for her, serving as a catalyst for her journey towards self-discovery and learning more about herself post-divorce.
After her divorce from Jay, Kristin explored humor with Los Angeles comedian Jeff Dye. However, even though they said the magical words “I love you” during a January 2021 Instagram Live, an insider told TopMob News in March that their relationship wasn’t particularly deep and they had parted ways. “She was just enjoying herself.
In November 2024, the comedian shared that they didn’t engage in a serious relationship. However, he admitted openly that she led him to believe there could be potential between them. She acted as if he were a pet dog.
By August 2021, Kristin had discovered a fresh duet collaborator in country artist Chase Rice. An informant shared with TopMob News that their partnership was still casual and new at the time. “She has attended one of his concerts and they are enjoying themselves,” the source added.
After several weeks, it became apparent that Nashville locals were appreciating solo performances, as I myself have been single, as evidenced by my Instagram post: “At the moment, I don’t have a partner.
In late 2024, a specific part of Kristin’s romantic history was revealed – her brief relationship with the popular country artist, Morgan Wallen.
As a lifestyle connoisseur, I might have expressed it this way: “On Bunnie XO’s Dumb Blonde podcast in December, I shared that he was an exceptional companion for intimate moments and excelled in our private encounters.
And he’s got some smooth moves out of the bedroom as well.
On our initial outing, he truly embodied chivalry, she mentioned. He casually said, ‘I’ll come to get you, I’ll decide the location,’ as if he were managing everything effortlessly. Later, after we left the chosen spot, “He kissed me in the rain,” she disclosed, which was the most delightful moment.
Kristin referred to Mark Estes, the popular TikTok star known as Montana Boyz, as her most wonderful boyfriend yet; however, she openly acknowledged the challenges she faced due to their significant 13-year age difference.
She revealed on her podcast in October 2024, shortly after ending her seven-month relationship with Mark, that it wasn’t a decision based on lost love or any negative event. Neither had been unfaithful or hurtful. There was simply no one to blame. As she put it, those types of breakups are often the most challenging, in her opinion.
In essence, she pointed out, “I believe he should live and grow, learning from various experiences. He’s still young, and I can feel it in the sense of life experience. Looking back at my own life at 24, so much has transpired since then. Those years are crucial, they shape us significantly. It’s during this time that one discovers themselves, and he needs that opportunity.
