What’s the view from your sofa?

In my cozy living space, I boast a stylish beige L-shaped couch adorned with vibrant orange cushions. Beneath it lies a soft, inviting carpet. Just beside the television stands a towering cat tree, perfect for my two sleek Sphynx cats to lounge on.

What have you enjoyed watching on telly recently?

I thoroughly enjoyed binge-watching Severance on Apple TV Plus, and I’ve recently completed the second season of Silo. I can’t help but give it my wholehearted recommendation! Additionally, I found The Traitors to be quite engaging and entertaining as well.

How do you think you’d fare on The Traitors?

In social gatherings with friends, I’m often the first one to be eliminated. It seems like people don’t trust me from the start!

You’re joining Britain’s Got Talent as a guest judge. Were you nervous?

Given that you have 25 million YouTube subscribers, do you believe your British Got Talent opportunity came about due to your ability to attract a younger audience who may typically avoid traditional television programming?

Britain’s Got Talent recognized the level of audience engagement and felt it was an opportunity worth exploring. However, I come from the YouTube realm where I’m known for being direct and competitive. Not everyone might appreciate that approach. It can be quite divisive! I won’t simply step in as a guest judge and mimic others. Instead, I’ll inject my unique style into the role. If I believe something is subpar, I won’t hesitate to express my opinion.

What was the worst audition you saw?

There was an individual who attempted impressions, yet their performance was quite poor. It was evident that they were putting in a lot of effort. Upon informing them of my opinion, they appeared close to tears, looking visibly upset – however, all I could say was, “I understand you came a long way, but it wasn’t good, mate. I apologize, buddy.” Some viewers might question my ability to judge, asking what qualifies me. However, I have been creating content for quite some time now. I’ve witnessed the best and the worst of talent, and I am well-equipped to identify what will succeed. I won’t sugarcoat it.

I may be resilient, but there are things that still affect me deeply. If you have confidence in yourself, then nothing else should matter. When I create a video that I think is excellent and someone disagrees, I don’t let it bother me. Instead, my focus is ensuring the audience is captivated enough to respond. If people watch it and move on without commenting – that’s disappointing. What I seek is passion. I want you to feel intensely about me, whether it’s strong admiration or fierce dislike.

There’s a significant expectation on social media firms to account for the content shared on their sites. Would you agree that increased personal accountability might be necessary in this context?

It’s analogous to expecting authorities to oversee every single word spoken in public spaces – such a task is unattainable. We reside in a nation that values free speech. Oftentimes, attempting to mute specific voices only amplifies their influence. On the contrary, disregarding them can diminish their impact as people tend to lose interest when their messages are ignored.

It appears that content creators on platforms like YouTube are transitioning into traditional television. For instance, Mr Beast has a show called “Beast Games” on Amazon Prime, and the YouTube show “Inside” is moving to Netflix for its second season. So, is online video still the wave of the future, or are we witnessing a shift towards mainstream TV?

On YouTube, you can create a following for your content, which can then be distributed to streaming giants like Netflix and Amazon. I don’t believe either platform will dominate completely, as they complement each other. While the streaming services offer high-quality content, YouTube is more of a free-for-all, allowing creators to publish whatever they desire in hopes of attracting an audience.
