Kyle Richards’ Daughter Hits Back at Weight Loss Drug Critics

Sophia Umansky is defending herself.

25-year-old Kyle Richards and Mauricio Umansky’s daughter spoke up about the negative comments she received online after posting about hair loss she’s experienced since using Mounjaro, a medication typically prescribed for managing type 2 diabetes and weight.

Sophia expressed in an interview with People (published May 10) that if one is truthful about matters, there’s little room for others to criticize or dislike, as you’ve admitted it yourself. By acknowledging your actions openly, any comments from others seem insignificant, like ‘Well, I warned you of this. I’m taking responsibility.’ In my view, it’s acceptable. And I always make it a point to mention that I’m on Mounjaro, as I consult with a doctor regularly.

The former star of “Buying Beverly Hills” expressed that she ignored any criticism from individuals not versed in medicine, finding comfort in openly sharing her personal health tale.

Sophia stated, “Those who claim I don’t require it have no idea what they’re discussing. They’re not medical professionals,” she added. “In my opinion, everyone should relax and manage their own lives. Truthfulness leads to success, while dishonesty isn’t enjoyable.

The Netflix-famous individual, with three sisters named Farrah (aged 36), Alexia (28), and Portia (17), revealed that her mother has been exceptionally encouraging about her choice to use Mounjaro, even though the star of “Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” had some initial reservations.

Sophia clarified, “I’m 25, making me an adult, and as such, I have the freedom to make my own decisions. However, we do receive advice from our mother, but it wasn’t about pushing a specific medication on me. Rather, she was cautioning against taking that medication. Once I consulted with doctors and made my choice clear, she became extremely supportive.

Indeed, Sophia firmly stood by her choice to use Mounjaro for weight loss, viewing it as a chance to boost her self-assurance.

She pointed out that people often suggest she has body dysmorphia and other such things, but her response is, “In reality, no. I’ve always thought I was cute, whether it was before or now.” She continued, “It’s okay to strive for a bit more confidence and cuteness. People get cosmetic enhancements all the time – fillers, Botox, various treatments. So if I want to feel a touch more attractive, why not?

In an earlier video this month, Sophia opened up about her encounter with Mounjaro, mentioning that she was dealing with significant hair loss due to the medication.

She pointed out that the quick weight loss due to the medication was likely the primary cause, along with an insufficient intake of vitamins, proteins, and other essential nutrients.

Daryl and I made a decision to follow the lowest recommended dosage for Monjaro, while incorporating physical activity and balanced diets into our routine. As the famous “All About That Bass” singer put it, “We’re in this together.” And so we embarked on this journey.

As a lifestyle advisor, I’d rephrase it like this:

In March 2025, the host of the Golden Globes passionately advocated for the acceptance of Ozempic, urging individuals to openly discuss their usage of this medication.

She expressed her affection by saying, ‘Go for it,’ on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. She’s non-judgmental. If someone wants to take Ozempic, absolutely, she said.

She stated, “I hope to encourage people to discuss it more openly, as I believe there’s an unwarranted sense of discomfort. This unease is predominantly felt by those who wish for you to remain overweight. It’s primarily a resentment that you’re slimming down now, because that’s all they have – your dynamism and charming personality make them envious.

Initially, my experience with Ozempic wasn’t pleasant. In an interview with TopMob News, I admitted that I disliked it intensely. Eating was a struggle for me as I often felt nauseous afterwards, and at times, I found myself unable to eat at all. My body seemed to reject it entirely.

A cast member on The Real Housewives of New York City dismissed talk of a transformation from season 14 to season 15.

In a conversation with Us Weekly back in October 2024, she expressed her viewpoint: “It’s quite common on reality TV to casually comment about someone having plastic surgery or taking medication like Ozempic,” she said. “However, I genuinely dislike Ozempic and would never consider injecting myself with needles.

Back in April 2024, a former star of Jon & Kate Plus 8 shared with Page Six that he shed 32 pounds over just two months by using semaglutide injections, which is essentially the same substance as Ozempic.

By August 2023, the former star of “30 Rock” shared on the program “Today With Hoda and Jenna” that he shed pounds using Ozempic, as it helped to reduce his hunger.

Come March 2024, it seemed like my health odyssey took an unexpected twist. On the renowned stage of “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon“, I confidently declared, “I’ve mastered the art of outpacing Ozempic in food consumption!” The result? A 40-pound addition to my frame.

In my latest podcast episode, I openly discussed the challenges that come with weight loss after turning forty. However, despite these hurdles, I’ve had the pleasure of encountering numerous women in their forties asking, “How did you manage?” Let me be transparent; a significant factor in my journey has been the use of Ozempic, a tool I believe can be incredibly effective if it’s suitable for your needs.

As a devoted fan, I can share that during a July 2024 appearance on “Watch What Happens Live”, the star from “The Real Housewives of New Jersey” clarified, “I’m not taking Ozempic, but I am on Tirzepatide, forgive me! Previously on The Real Housewives of Atlanta, a former cast member openly shared about her unsuccessful effort to shed pounds using an injection-based treatment for weight loss.

In her statement from June 2024, she expressed that the diet didn’t help suppress her hunger. She mentioned that while others might find themselves unable to eat, she was still enjoying appetizers, a full meal, and dessert. She went on to explain that when a particular diet works for some people but not for her, it can lead to feelings of sadness or self-doubt – questioning if there’s something wrong with her or why the diet isn’t effective for her.

During her conversation with Fox News Digital, she admitted that while she can’t delve into the medical aspects, she is well-informed about the subject. She stated that there’s a wealth of knowledge available on what works effectively and what doesn’t. Regarding Ozempic, she emphasized its advantages but also warned about potential risks involved.

In 2017, when she had her son Beau, the character from Beverly Hills, 90210 experimented with a weight-loss aid.

In September 2023, the host of Talk U.K. disclosed that she lost a total of 42 pounds by taking Ozempic during the first part of the year.

She confidently shared with TopMob News that the decision is entirely yours to make. Using something to aid in weight loss isn’t something hidden or shameful; it’s completely acceptable.

She added, “We don’t have to bulls–t.”

Sharon’s daughter has also weighed in on the Ozempic trend.

Speaking with TopMob News in January 2024, I found myself struck by pure awe. The variety of methods available for shedding pounds is astounding, and it occurred to me: Why limit oneself to the monotony of exercise when there are so many alternatives?

The actress famed for her role on the Titanic, who had previously been under media scrutiny regarding her weight, expressed her thoughts on the current fad of losing weight.

In a conversation with The New York Times Magazine, published in March 2024, I openly acknowledged my lack of knowledge about Ozempic. All I can say for sure is that it’s a medication of some sort that I haven’t delved into extensively.

“Oh, my God,” Kate remarked after learning about the injectable. “This sounds terrible.”

In December 2023, it was disclosed by the star of the show Hills that she had shed 22 pounds without utilizing Ozempic. She stated to Page Six that there are no shortcuts in life and if someone is using such a shortcut, she isn’t sure about it. “I don’t want to mention names or delve into it, but it’s just something I would never do,” she added.

Heidi mentioned her preference for something that is both sustainable and involves some effort or work.

Amy Schumer didn’t mince words when she publicly criticized celebrities for not openly admitting they use Ozempic for weight loss, during her guesting on Watch What Happens Live on June 8, 2023.

She expressed to Andy Cohen that everyone seems eager to give it a try, with some even pretending to advocate for smaller portions. In her words, “Enough already! If you’re using Ozempic or similar medications, or if you’ve had cosmetic procedures, just admit it and stop pretending.

In her remembrance, Schumer shared that she used to be among those individuals who felt extremely unwell and struggled to play with their children. On this particular occasion, her son was tossing a ball at her, but due to her state of health, she couldn’t catch it.

Forget winter, a hot take is coming.

As a lifestyle connoisseur, I didn’t hesitate to voice my thoughts on the advertising campaigns for Ozempic. Here’s my take on the matter.

On April 5, 2023, an Instagram post by the actress shared a tweet from author Sophie Vershbow that expressed disapproval towards the Ozempic advertisements in the Times Square subway station. The tweet essentially suggested that these ads should be removed. Some of the ads displayed in Vershbow’s Twitter pictures contained messages like, “One opportunity to shed pounds,” and another had a similar message, “A weekly dose for weight loss.

Turner adding her own commentary, writing, “WTF.”

Previously, the company behind Ozempic, Novo Nordisk, informed TopMob News that this medication has not received approval from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) specifically for managing long-term weight issues.

Though it’s understood that certain medical professionals might be prescribing Ozempic to aid weight loss, Novo Nordisk does not endorse or advocate the use of our drugs outside their approved purposes. We strictly adhere to all U.S. laws and regulations when promoting our products. We believe healthcare providers are making personalized decisions about what medication best suits each patient’s unique needs.

For the comedian, Ozempic isn’t a joke – as Handler discovered, her physician prescribing this medicine didn’t make it clear to her about the nature of the drug.

During the January 25, 2023 episode of Call Her Daddy, she remarked, “I hadn’t realized I was on it,” but then added, “And if you ever want to lose around five pounds, this seems effective.

But while she tried the drug, Handler noted that she didn’t like how it made her feel.

She reminisced about returning from her vacation, where she gave herself an injection. A few days later, she had lunch with a friend, who mentioned she wasn’t eating much due to feeling sick, as she was on Ozempic. Feeling slightly queasy myself, I couldn’t help but notice. However, my recent trip to Spain had left me with jet lag.

In the end, Handler chose to discontinue the use of the drug as it was not medically required for her health. Furthermore, she generously donated the leftover doses to her friends.

She mentioned that she had given Ozempic, a medication typically used for obese individuals, to around four or five of her friends, as she felt it was unnecessary. Instead, she said she would have guests over and tell them, “You’re welcome here at 1, you’re welcome here at 2.”

Khloe Kardashian clapped back when commenters on Instagram speculated that she was taking Ozempic.

In a January 2023 post, Kardashian stated, “Don’t underestimate the years of dedication I put into my workouts. I rise five mornings a week at 6am to exercise. Let’s refrain from jumping to conclusions. It seems that even with the New Year, there are still some unkind individuals.

Apart from disclosing his temporary use of the weight-loss drug Mounjaro back in January 2023, Dubrow also shared insights about its effects on the human body.

According to the star of Botched, they found it incredible. They didn’t initially need to shed much weight, but their curiosity was piqued because numerous patients were on it, so they decided to give it a try since they weren’t diabetic and only had 10-15 pounds to lose.

While Dr. Dubrow didn’t specify the amount of weight lost or the duration of his medication usage, he did confirm that he is no longer taking it now.

He shared that his decision to stop the medication stemmed from a desire to rekindle his appetite. Additionally, he mentioned experiencing a mild feeling of nausea.

A cast member from The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills spoke candidly regarding speculation that she was using a certain drug due to her fans noticing her weight reduction on social media.

As a lifestyle enthusiast, I’d like to clarify a recent comment of mine from January 5th, 2023 on Instagram. To set the record straight, I haven’t and never have been on Ozempic.

In her January 16, 2023 Instagram post via Page Six, the Bravo star dismissed those rumors once again, making it clear that she is not currently using the specified medication.

After fans questioned whether or not she was taking Ozempic, Jessica set the record straight.

In an interview published on July 6, 2023, she expressed to Bustle, “You know, it’s not Ozempic, it’s self-discipline. I wonder if people wish for me to go back to drinking again? That was when I was heavier. Or they want me to have another baby? My body is no longer capable of that.

Nassif echoed his Botched costar in giving the drug two thumbs up.

As he openly states, there’s no need for ridicule towards Ozempic usage, Nassif shared exclusively with TopMob News in February 2024. I personally find it acceptable. I’ve noticed this not only with Terry but also many of my friends I recently met up with – they all seem to be thriving. In terms of their health, they report improved blood sugar and blood pressure levels. If used correctly, these benefits could potentially contribute to increased lifespan.

It turns out that the renowned plastic surgeon mentioned there could be additional advantages to using Ozempic, beyond just weight management, hinting at potential anti-aging properties in future applications.
