The celebrity known for the Kardashians reality show responded to remarks about her appearance after giving birth to Stormi Webster in 2018 and Aire Webster in 2022.
She shared with British Vogue, in an article published on August 13, that she weighed 200 pounds at the time of giving birth to her twin babies, who each weighed 9 pounds (8.3 and 8.9 pounds). Now, she’s back to her pre-pregnancy weight, but people are comparing photos of her three months postpartum. She feels the need to remind them that she carried two children, resulting in a total weight gain of 60 pounds during both pregnancies.
Kylie, who co-parents with her former partner Travis Scott and is currently in a relationship with Timothée Chalamet, spoke about the changes in her weight throughout various stages of her life.
“Kylie shared that she managed to shed the extra weight gained during pregnancy with her daughter, only to become pregnant again just two months later. She felt fit and was enjoying her workout routine, but then found herself pregnant once more. She expressed that she feels women, particularly after childbirth, often don’t receive enough understanding and empathy.”
In her own words, when discussing the Type 1 diabetes medication used as a weight loss aid, Ozempic, she said, “Some folks are suggesting that I’m taking some sort of drug.”
Besides her postpartum weight, Kylie’s life under public scrutiny has also included other forms of criticism as she has matured in the limelight.
The world weighed heavily on me, a teenager, with expectations of making good decisions, as the 27-year-old explained to the media. I need to treat myself kindly because, even though I bore a significant amount of responsibility at the time, I was merely trying to do what seemed best for me.
These days, she’s giving herself a break.
“In hindsight, the cosmetics entrepreneur acknowledged, ‘I was simply doing my best as a person.’ She reminded herself, ‘It’s alright, Kylie.’ Reflecting on her past, she thought, ‘Wow, I was only 17 or 18 at that time.'”
