Lady Gaga Roasts Joker: Folie a Deux on SNL (And It’s Hilarious)

Lady Gaga boldly addressed her critics during her stint as the host of Saturday Night Live over the weekend. The pop sensation humorously poked fun at her acting in the movie “Joker: Folie à Deux“, as well as other recent stories surrounding her. She humorously admitted to being nominated for a Razzie Award for her portrayal of Harley Quinn, and assured the audience that they wouldn’t be subjected to any Joker tunes that evening. Additionally, she joked about her past appearance on SNL in 2013 when she sang a duet with R. Kelly. Viewers commended Gaga for handling such potentially awkward situations bravely, despite moments of discomfort.

In her opening speech, Gaga declared, “I’ve transitioned into acting now.” She chooses roles that highlight her acting skills, such as in the upcoming film “Joker 2“. People seemed to enjoy it quite a bit. Interestingly, Joaquin Phoenix and I were even nominated for a Razzie award, which is given for the worst films of the year. We won the award for worst onscreen duo. However, they’ve got it wrong. I relish winning things. My Razzie brings me one step closer to an EGORT. It’s similar to an EGOT, but it holds a bit of a sting.

Tonight, I vow to perform, to sing, and I won’t be watching ‘Joker 3,’ she mentioned later on. “You might assume I’m here just to advertise my album, Mayhem, but in reality, I want to emphasize that I’m a terrific actress.

The sequel to “Joker,” titled “Folie à Deux,” underperformed at the box office, garnering mostly negative feedback from both critics and audiences. It received a total of two Razzies, winning in the categories of “worst screen combo” and “worst remake, rip-off, or sequel.” On Rotten Tomatoes, it earned an average score of 4.9 out of 10, with only 31% of reviews being positive. Critics found the story uninteresting and felt that the deep character exploration intended to fill the screen time fell short.

The Joker sequel wasn’t planned initially; it was thought up following the success of the first movie. As for a potential third film, there’s been no indication yet. These movies are classified as an “Elseworld” spin-off within the DC Comics universe, unconnected to other films or series. With the DC Universe continuity set to debut on the big screen this summer, DC Studios is currently preoccupied with that and the sequel to The Batman starring Robert Pattinson.

Right now, you can stream “Joker: Two Face” alongside its prequel “Joker” and a variety of other DC films on Max. Additionally, you can catch Lady Gaga’s episode of Saturday Night Live on Peacock.
