Laken Riley Murder Case: Her Mom Says She Was “Robbed” of Her Daughter

As a lifestyle expert with years of experience in understanding human emotions and coping mechanisms, I can only imagine the profound grief that Allyson Phillips is experiencing. Losing a child, especially under such tragic circumstances, is unimaginable and leaves an indelible mark on one’s life.

Allyson Phillips will never recover from the loss of her daughter Laken Riley

Prior to Jose Antonio Ibarra‘s conviction to life imprisonment without the chance of parole for the murder of an Augusta University nursing student, her mother expressed a victim impact statement, stating that the defendant had “stolen” all their aspirations and future plans.

According to NBC News, Phillips expressed through tears at Laken’s sentencing on November 20th that this horrific creature had stolen our joy of witnessing Laken graduate from nursing school. It also took away the opportunity for us to meet our future son-in-law. The monster devastatingly destroyed any chance we had of meeting our grandchildren, and he took my most cherished friend.

She continued, “He took away every beautiful memory we won’t ever be able to make with her again.”

Riley’s mother, who has Lauren Riley with ex-partner Jason Riley, later recounted in heartbreaking detail the last moments of Lauren before she was tragically killed during an early morning run on February 22nd.

That terrible day, my dear child suffered an unprovoked attack, was viciously beaten, and showed no sign of compassion. She valiantly struggled for her life, her honor, and to prevent a horrific rape.

Phillips emphasized how the loss of her 22-year-old daughter has felt over the last nine months.

Not just Laken’s life was lost on the day Jose Ibarra attacked; the lives of her family, loved ones, and everyone close to her were also snuffed out. We’ve all been irrevocably changed by this tragedy.

Before Judge H. Patrick Haggard delivered his verdict, Phillips implored him to ensure that Ibarra “never has an opportunity to harm anyone else in the future.

On November 20th, according to NBC News, Ibarra was found guilty on all ten charges. Among these were three counts of felony murder, one count of malice murder, as well as kidnapping causing bodily harm, aggravated assault with the intent to rape, and being accused of voyeurism or spying.

Following his verdict, Ibarra was guided out of the courtroom by officials. As the hearing concluded, according to CNN, Haggard addressed the remaining audience with a heartfelt sentiment, “I hope each one of you finds success and happiness.
