Latest State of Play Livestream Peaked at 2.2 Million Concurrent Viewers

It appears that Sony’s latest State of Play event was incredibly popular, with over 2.2 million people tuning in simultaneously, setting a new record for the most concurrent viewers for any Sony livestream to date, as reported by SteamCharts.

Based on SteamCharts data, the State of Play event simultaneously attracted over 2.25 million viewers at its highest point. Across numerous channels, the average number of simultaneous viewers for the showcase was approximately 1.92 million. Interestingly, during this event, the official PlayStation stream on Twitch had the most concurrent viewers, peaking at about 741,789 viewers.

Based on accumulated statistics, the latest State of Play has become the third most-viewed livestream for a gaming or tech event this year, as of now. It trails slightly behind the March 27th Nintendo Direct with a peak viewership of 2.72 million and the April Nintendo Direct for the Switch 2, which attracted 6.3 million viewers.

To provide a bit more information, the State of Play broadcast on February 12 had an impressive viewer peak of 2.1 million people simultaneously, making it the second-most-watched event in its series. This is closely followed by the one that took place on January 2024, which attracted 1.6 million viewers.

During the latest State of Play event, trailers for various games were presented, ranging from Capcom’s Pragmata to a VR-exclusive sequel of the beloved stealth series, Thief. IO Interactive announced a 2026 release window for their 007 First Light, offering a sneak peek at its gameplay. Additionally, Nioh 3 was revealed by Koei Tecmo during the presentation. Lastly, Sony showcased its own fight stick.
