Warning: Upcoming on NBC’s Law & Order universe on April 17, expect an exciting crossover event starting with the regular Law & Order and Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, followed by the Season 5 premiere of Law & Order: Organized Crime. You can watch these episodes via a subscription to Peacock streaming service.
NBC’s Thursday nights were long associated with Law & Order shows in their prime-time slot, but Law & Order: Organized Crime moved to streaming on Peacock after several years. Now, there’s an exciting event scheduled for April 17th, featuring a major murder case that requires episodes of both Law & Order and SVU, followed by the Season 5 premiere of Organized Crime, which will bring Christopher Meloni and the team back to prime-time television for one special night.
On a unique occasion in 2025, there’s an exclusive one-time event happening on NBC’s schedule – a special three-episode installment of Law & Order airing on Thursdays. Given that the rest of Organized Crime Season 5 will only be available on Peacock and we won’t have two-part crossovers every week, let’s tune in together for this special Thursday night viewing on NBC!
Keep in mind that new entries will be displayed from the latest (Most Recent) to the oldest while the episode is currently airing live. Once the live broadcast ends (watchalong concludes), the order will switch and you’ll see the entries in reverse, starting with the oldest and moving towards the most recent.
The Hype Is Real
Tonight’s two-part episode marks the first crossover between Law & Order and SVU in quite some time. Interestingly enough, several key cast members weren’t part of the last major incident (involving Organized Crime as well), which makes this occasion even more special. With such a case requiring input from detectives and prosecutors across both shows, it promises to be a gripping experience. However, a glimpse at what happens off-screen reveals that Reid Scott wasn’t exaggerating when he mentioned the cast members enjoying each other’s company.

Despite the fact that Organized Crime won’t feature in the crossover (although there’s a possibility Christopher Meloni might make a cameo on SVU if all goes well), the cast is noticeably absent from any behind-the-scenes pictures of the crossover. However, a few snapshots suggest that the Stabler brothers share a great relationship in real life!

Dean Norris mentioned to TopMob that the depiction of Organized Crime is becoming more authentic with its violence. This likely means that Elliot and Randall won’t be seen as cheerful as Norris and Meloni appear in these photos, so let’s appreciate their smiles while we can!
Starting With Law & Order!
The initial segment of the three-hour spectacle goes by the title “Play With Fire Part 1,” and it’s shaping up to be more reminiscent of an episode from SVU than Law & Order. I have a feeling Benson won’t be far behind! Alas, I can hardly wish everyone the best, as history has shown that, much like at Hudson University, misfortune seems to strike guest stars during the opening scenes of a Law & Order episode.
A Gruesome Murder To Start The Night
It’s clear now why Reid Scott mentioned, “This specific corpse was unlike anything I had encountered during my two years here on Law and Order,” given his preview of the crossover episode. The sight of a charred body in a barrel is indeed intense for the 8 p.m. ET time slot. Welcome to Law & Order, Silva!
