2025 Season in League of Legends is bursting with freshness, introducing a novel jungle creature, turrets that respawn, an exciting battle pass, and much more! However, amidst all the excitement, there’s one aspect of this season that seems to be causing a stir among players: the Feats of Strength. This new addition to the Year of Noxus is designed to reward those who take an early lead with even better perks in the mid and late game, but the way it’s currently implemented has left many of us feeling disgruntled. Fortunately, Riot Games has acknowledged these concerns and intends to rectify some aspects, although the changes won’t be implemented right away.
scoring the first kill (First Blood), destroying the initial turret, and killing three powerful jungle creatures (Epic monsters). The team that completes any two of these tasks first will claim victory in the challenge, thereby denying the opposing team access to Noxian boot upgrades permanently.
In essence, Feats of Strength ought to encourage early-game strategies and foster teamwork during a game. Players should strategize their attacks and coordinate ganks effectively to bring down the initial turret. To achieve this, three monster camps must be killed, which motivates teams to rotate for objectives and cooperate with their jungler. These are actions that players typically perform; however, the issue many League of Legends players face with Feats of Strength is the “First Blood” objective.
As a gamer, I find myself frequently grappling with an issue in today’s League games that requires minimal elaboration, especially for those who’ve witnessed the opening scenes of these matches lately. With leashing jungle objectives becoming less of a priority and the surge in invades, it seems like one absent-minded teammate hiding in a bush, snatching first blood before minions even appear, has become commonplace. This was frustrating enough on its own, but when this results in a loss that allows the enemy team to just complete one more Feat of Strength to snowball the game, it significantly dampens morale and cooperation among team members – to put it mildly.
One League player commented on Reddit that it’s preposterous to consider “getting first blood” as being equal to kills or assists, because it’s essentially a random event like flipping a coin or going to the one who successfully invades. They argued that it requires significantly less effort compared to the other two.
The positive aspect is that Riot is fully cognizant of these issues and has ideas for revamping the “First Blood” Achievement. Matt Leung-Harrison, the primary gameplay designer on League, addressed the situation regarding “First Blood” in a tweet, discussing the changes in a post that also included patch notes for a quick update. This update, as expected, has already been rolled out to address the influence of the rewards from the “Feats of Strength” that League players receive.
He noted that we are currently working on modifications to overhaul First Blood as a Feat, which will not be implemented until either the 15.2 or 15.3 update (to be determined). Additionally, he emphasized that we’re paying close attention to player feedback and fine-tuning things before moving forward with changes related to mechanics and systems.
It’s not yet certain what the new achievement for bragging rights will be instead of first blood, but many gamers think it might involve something similar to the Epic monster challenge where players must defeat three or five enemy champions, as opposed to leaving it up to chance who secures the initial kill.
