Leaked Pokemon TCG Cards Excite Fans Ahead of Release

Starting this Friday, March 14th in Japan, the “Heat Wave Arena” expansion for the Pokemon Trading Card Game is being launched. In the United States, these cards will be part of the English-language collection called “Pokemon Scarlet & Violet – Destined Rivals,” which hits stores on May 30th. Prior to its official release, a leak has given fans an early sneak peek at some never-before-seen cards from the “Heat Wave Arena” set. Although all the main cards have already been unveiled, with every card in the primary set receiving an official reveal before it hits Japan, this recent leak on March 11th highlights some of the secret rares that will be part of the set.

In the Heat Wave Arena collection, there are 63 standard play cards and 29 rare, hidden cards. The Pokemon Company has already revealed the main set cards, while some of the secret rares have been leaked on social media and confirmed by the Pokemon community site PokeBeach. It is confirmed that the set will feature several secret rare Trainer’s Pokémon, such as Arven’s Mabosstiff EX, Ethan’s Ho-Oh EX, and Cynthia’s Garchomp EX. Unfortunately, it seems that the Heat Wave Arena set won’t include a Misty’s Psyduck EX, only a full-art secret rare version of Misty’s Psyduck.

26 out of the 29 hidden rare cards from the upcoming Pokemon Trading Card Game set have been leaked, giving us a clearer picture of some of the harder-to-find cards. These newly revealed cards, combined with the initial 63 previously disclosed by The Pokemon Company, will join the English version of the Pokemon Scarlet & Violet – Destined Rivals set. In essence, this sneak peek offers a hint about what’s in store and the chase cards that we’ll all be eager to collect.

Upcoming Pokemon Card Sets in Order

Enthusiasts of Pokemon cards know that acquiring the latest English releases such as “Scarlet & Violet – Prismatic Evolutions” has been challenging due to high demand outpacing supply. Fans are on the lookout for rare restocks, and the scarcity persists. The upcoming set, titled “Journey Together”, will be available in a matter of weeks on March 28th. As for future releases, The Pokemon Company has not yet officially announced any new sets past this one. However, there are scheduled restocks for “Prismatic Evolutions” and tentative release dates for additional “Pokemon Trading Card Game” sets in the year 2025.

Keep a lookout for the upcoming set releases, specifically the “Destined Rivals” set featuring recently leaked Secret Rares. Here’s the release schedule.

  • Scarlet & Violet – Journey Together – March 28th
  • Scarlet & Violet – Prismatic Evolutions Accessory Pouch Collection – April 25th
  • Scarlet & Violet – Destined Rivals – May 30th

Apart from what’s already been revealed, we don’t have any information about the unnamed sets coming out in 2025 or their release dates. But this year, we anticipate that there will be three additional ‘Scarlet & Violet’ sets, possibly in July, September, and November. The recent registration of a new trademark and the upcoming launch of ‘Legends Z-A’ hint that the ‘Pokemon Trading Card Game’ will transition from ‘Scarlet & Violet’ to something new after these releases.

Looking forward to catching a sneak peek at the fresh secret rares and cards coming up in the Destined Rivals set this year, fans can’t help but feel anxious about whether the stock shortages will continue. Stores like many retailers have run out of stock, with others such as Costco and GameStop imposing purchase limits to prolong their Pokemon card restocks. Here’s hoping that the Pokemon company will keep their word in addressing this problem as they roll out the Scarlet & Violet era sets.
