Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver 1 and 2 Remastered Bonus Content Includes Galleries, Lore Reader, and More

As a long-time fan who has been enamored with the intricate world of Nosgoth since my first encounter with Raziel and Kain in the original Soul Reaver, this remastered version feels like a dream come true! The inclusion of the Lost Levels, new maps, Lore Reader, and the Dark Chronicles section promises to fill in gaps from my childhood memories and deepen my connection to this universe.

The remastered versions of “Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver 1 and 2” are set to deliver visually upgraded iterations of Crystal Dynamics’ cherished originals, a prospect enticing enough for numerous fans. Yet, it doesn’t stop there! Additional content is also promised alongside the enhanced visuals. In a post on PlayStation Blog, Aspyr, the remaster’s developer, has disclosed more about what we can anticipate in terms of bonus material.

Among the extra features included in the remaster, the standout addition will undeniably be the four “Lost Levels,” providing players with a chance to delve into areas excised from the original Soul Reaver game. Furthermore, you can anticipate a new Lore Reader, enriched with newly crafted maps and evocative descriptions of places and events. This reader has been developed in partnership with leaders of the Legacy of Kain Fandom, prominent community members, and artists from Crystal Dynamics. Each map will offer players the option to switch between its pristine and corrupted versions.

The enhanced version, or remaster, offers a Gallery segment with fresh and high-definition visuals based on old and new content, improved versions of the initial games’ cinematic scenes in full motion video (FMV), artwork for exploration, plus the original credits, demo videos, and outtakes. Additionally, there is a Dark Chronicles section, which provides a comprehensive text version of both games’ scripts from start to finish.

As a gamer, I’m super excited that they’re tossing in the soundtracks from both originals! Not only will I get to groove along with the classic tunes, but also some fresh tracks like “Priestess Encounter” and “Spirit Forge”. Can’t wait to dive back into this world!

The remastered versions of “Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver 1 and 2” are scheduled to release on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC on the 10th of December.
