Legally Blonde’s Ali Larter Shares Why She Left Hollywood

As a dedicated follower of celebrity lifestyles, I have to say that Ali Larter and Hayes MacArthur’s decision to trade the hustle and bustle of Los Angeles for the serene beauty of Sun Valley, Idaho, is nothing short of inspiring. Having lived in the heart of the city myself, I can only imagine the appeal of a quieter, more community-focused lifestyle.

Ali Larter and Hayes MacArthur have made the transition from the hills to the mountains.

At the peak of the pandemic, I, being a devoted follower, joined my spouse, who had been by my side for 15 years, in our decision to escape the bustling city life. We gathered our children, Theadore and Vivienne, along with our beloved dog, Nala, and hit the road in our SUV, initially planning a short relocation from Los Angeles. However, fate had other plans for us as we found ourselves settling permanently in Sun Valley, Idaho instead.

48-year-old shared with Rue magazine, “We were captivated by the stunning serenity of the mountains, their majestic silence.” Previously, neither of us had resided in a quaint town. Here, people care for one another. There’s a strong sense of camaraderie that we’re delighted to be a part of, and it makes us very content.

2022 saw me, along with my spouse, building our stunning 4,400-square-foot abode in Sun Valley. We were fortunate to have the interior design expertise of Amanda Masters once more, who had previously transformed our Hollywood Hills home post our wedding in 2009.

Hayes mentioned that Amanda is extremely cooperative and pleasant to collaborate with. It seems as if she instinctively understands how to blend our working styles, which results in creating spaces that we both admire and enjoy.

1) The foyer, powder room, and bedroom within the house are all embellished with wallpaper boasting organic patterns reminiscent of the property’s scenic surroundings, which can be seen through expanses of glass walls. Ali and Hayes’ residence is furnished with vintage pieces from the 60s, 70s, and 80s, along with wooden paneling that they believe contributes to the home’s cozy ambiance.

Ali particularly loves the kitchen area, his preferred spot at home, featuring an expansive island crafted from beautiful Italian marble. This design element invites and emphasizes the everyday wear and tear and stains caused by the family’s regular activities.

The Landman actress shared that she values family dinners, especially when the kitchen, bathed in light, transforms into the heartwarming centerpiece of the house. However, she admits to cherishing water stains on antique marble tables and the enduring charm of the stone. She told Rue this.

As a lifestyle expert, I’ve found that having a personal sanctuary like Ali and Hayes is crucial, especially after spending extended periods away from home on set. For them, their house, which celebrated its first anniversary this year, serves as the perfect base to unwind and recharge.

Ali mentioned that gazing at mountains often brings tranquility and motivation to him. He usually feels as if he’s running at a thousand miles per hour, but the massive mountains help him unwind.
