As a seasoned gamer with over two decades of gaming under my belt, I have to admit that the news about the recasting of Sylens in LEGO Horizon Adventures has left me feeling a bit melancholic. Lance Reddick was an exceptional actor and his portrayal of Sylens was nothing short of captivating. His absence will undoubtedly leave a void in the game that no other actor can fill.
In about a month, the new release of LEGO Horizon Adventures will offer players a vibrant and humorous take on the story from Horizon Zero Dawn, presenting familiar characters in a fresh perspective. Notably, while many actors reprising their roles from the original game are featured in the upcoming LEGO version, unfortunately Lance Reddick, who played Sylens in both Horizon games and passed away last year at age 60, will not be returning.
In line with our anticipations, Guerrilla – the joint developer of the upcoming game LEGO Horizon Adventures together with Studio Gobo – has confirmed to IGN that Reddick’s role has been reassigned in this new action-adventure project. As reported by senior world artist Lucas Bolt, Sylens will indeed be featured in Adventures; however, a different actor will portray him, though the identity of the actor remains undisclosed at present.
In 2023, Lance Reddick sadly passed away, leaving an immense void within Guerrilla and our community, as stated by Bolt. Known for his exceptional portrayal of the significant character Sylens in both Horizon Zero Dawn and Forbidden West, he will be dearly missed. The character of Sylens can also be found in LEGO Horizon Adventures, and we plan to announce a new actor to take on this role at a future time.
The LEGO Horizon Adventures game is scheduled for release on November 14, available on PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, and personal computers. The title has now been certified as “gold,” indicating it’s ready for distribution.
