LEGO to Bring Game Development In-House, New Studio Created

LEGO is planning to establish its very own video game development studio. In the future, they will be responsible for creating LEGO-themed games themselves, rather than outsourcing this task to external studios such as TT Games or Studio Gobo. This change means that the production process of these brick-based games will now take place within LEGO itself.

According to The Guardian, the Danish firm is boosting its investment in online gaming and developing an in-house team for this purpose. Their goal is to blend physical and digital play, creating a more integrated experience. Although specific LEGO games are yet to be disclosed, this investment is part of a long-term strategy. The company’s broader initiatives also involve partnerships with brands like Nike and F1. This move is significant as the company’s profits grew by 13% even in a market where overall toy sales decreased.

TT Games, under the wing of Warner Bros, is renowned for creating LEGO video games, and as reported by Bloomberg’s Jason Schreier, they are currently working on a new LEGO game set to launch either this year or in 2026. They have previously adapted popular franchises like Star Wars, Indiana Jones, Harry Potter, among others, into LEGO form. The latest release, LEGO Horizon Adventures, was developed by Studio Gobo for the PS5.
