Letitia Wright is expected to rejoin the Marvel Cinematic Universe, possibly for “Avengers: Doomsday.” Although Marvel Studios hasn’t confirmed it yet, there are strong indications that this might be the case. Given the scale of such a film, it wouldn’t be surprising if it featured an ensemble cast as impressive as those in “Avengers: Infinity War” and “Avengers: Endgame.” The latest fans saw of Wright was as Shuri in “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever,” where she assumed the role of Black Panther after her brother, T’Challa, passed away. However, we now ponder if Shuri will be the sole Black Panther to appear in future projects.
The movie, “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever,” ended with Shuri triumphing over Namor in battle, and Wakanda and Talokan forming a tentative truce. With T’Challa and Queen Ramonda both deceased, it falls upon Shuri to guide Wakanda as the Black Panther. The passing of Chadwick Boseman left fans heartbroken, forcing Marvel Studios to rework their plans for “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.” Even so, whispers about additional Black Panthers joining the MCU have been stirred by leaked concept art from “Avengers: Doomsday.
Back in early March, artwork for the movie “Avengers: Doomsday” was leaked online. Among the images was one showing a regal figure standing in Wakanda before an enormous Black Panther statue. The person depicted as T’Challa in the pictures didn’t look like Chadwick Boseman, which sparked rumors that “Avengers: Doomsday” might recast T’Challa and bring in a different character. However, some sharp detective work suggested this might not be accurate.
The deleted ArtStation post by the artist originally featured T’Chanda, not T’Challa, as the character. This could potentially be the new role that Denzel Washington is rumored to have been written for in Black Panther 3, a film which, according to Black Panther franchise producer Nate Moore, will not recast T’Challa.
Moore clarified to ComicBook that the rumors about a new Black Panther actor for Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars are unfounded. He stated, “At this moment, we haven’t engaged in any substantial creative discussions with Ryan Coogler since he’s busy with his film Sinners, set to release this year. Once we get to that point later this year, anything you read online about the matter isn’t accurate, as we have yet to start working on it.
