Lately, the popular game “Lies of P,” similar to the critically acclaimed “Souls” series, has launched its DLC called “Overture” which has been generally well-received. However, some players have expressed concerns about the overall difficulty level in the new content. They argue that the balancing for the new difficulty options appears to have made the “intended” option feel excessively challenging or unfair.
According to IGN’s report, the subreddit for the game “Lies of P” has a dedicated thread where players are discussing the significantly increased difficulty of the “Overture” level. This toughness is also reflected in Steam reviews, with one player stating that they are at level 300 yet still getting defeated by common enemies in just two hits.
As reported by Eurogamer, game director Jiwon Choi has shared a statement in a recent video, indicating that the team is considering player feedback and working on adjusting the game’s challenge level for better balance.
Choi mentioned in the video that they’re meticulously examining everything and have begun considering when to put some of your ideas into practice. They’re particularly focused on enhancing the combat experience based on the feedback received, as there were parts that didn’t meet their expectations. Consequently, they’re reviewing possible changes, such as reducing difficulty.
As a dedicated gamer diving into Lies of P, I can’t stress enough that combat is an essential core element. Altering or tweaking anything related to it demands great care and rigorous testing to ensure the gameplay experience remains intact.
Based on Choi’s comments, it seems reasonable to expect that any official balance adjustments for “Lies of P: Overture” may require some time. As Choi mentioned, the studio is determined to ensure a well-balanced game, and they are taking care not to inadvertently make it too simple.
Lies of P: Overture was unexpectedly launched this weekend, introducing a fresh journey starring players exploring an earlier incarnation of Krat. Main character P is given the opportunity to revisit a Krat that existed just before it began to crumble. This Downloadable Content (DLC) also introduces Lea, the Legendary Stalker, who players can join forces with as they delve into the mysteries hidden in Krat’s past.
In addition to the fresh gaming area, “Lies of P: Overture” introduces an array of novel weapons accompanied by unique combat methods for players to exploit as they tackle its difficulties. As of this writing, “Lies of P: Overture” holds a “Mostly Positive” rating on Steam, with 77% of its 1,667 user reviews suggesting the expansion pack. At present, it is available for $29.99.
The video game titled “Lies of P” was launched on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S in the year 2023. Ever since then, it’s been quite popular. In March 2024, Neowiz announced that Lies of P had amassed more than 7 million players. Given that we’re now over a year past this announcement, it’s safe to say the player count has significantly increased as well.
