Lies of P Sequel May Feature Open-World Elements

As a seasoned gamer with over two decades of experience under my belt, I must admit that the news about the open-world potential of the upcoming sequel to Lies of P has piqued my interest. Having traversed countless open worlds since the dawn of the genre, I’m intrigued by the prospect of exploring the enchanting realm of Oz in this Soulslike title.

It appears the sequel to “Lies of P” by Neowiz is expected to incorporate open-world features. Just over a month following its 2023 debut, director Ji Won Choi confirmed that a sequel for the action Soulslike game was in development. As “Lies of P” hasn’t yet celebrated its first anniversary, it seems we won’t see this next installment for some time. However, with recent confirmation, we now have a clearer idea of what might be in store for us when it eventually arrives.

In their latest job post for a Field Level Designer at Neowiz, the company is seeking applicants with expertise in open-world game development. Ideally, candidates should have extensive experience playing and developing various open-world games. It’s also beneficial if they have worked on similar projects before. The role is related to the upcoming sequel of Lies of P, which has yet to be officially named as Lies of P 2.

**Spoilers for the end of Lies of P are mentioned beyond this point.**

For individuals who completed the game “Lies of P”, it appears Neowiz is planning to guide the series towards Oz next. In the game’s closing scene, Dorothy from The Wizard of Oz is alluded to briefly. Although the specifics of how the world of “Lies of P” rooted in Pinocchio’s lore will intersect with Oz are yet unknown, it’s evident that this realm might serve as the setting for the sequel. Intriguingly, Neowiz seems keen on making Oz a location players can explore freely at their leisure. Whether this decision will prove beneficial for the series is still uncertain, but it certainly hints at significant departures from the first installment.

How do you think it would be if Lies of P 2 shifts towards a more open-world gameplay style compared to its first version? What aspects of the series do you expect Neowiz to further develop in the sequel? Feel free to share your thoughts with me on social media using @MooreMan12.
