Life is Strange: Double Exposure Developer Deck Nine Announces Layoffs

As a seasoned gamer who has followed the journey of Life is Strange since its inception, I can’t help but feel a pang of sadness and concern upon hearing about yet another round of layoffs at Deck Nine Games. Having invested countless hours into the series, I’ve come to appreciate not only the engaging stories and characters, but also the hard work and dedication of the team behind them.

2024 has been a tough year for the gaming industry, with job cuts totalling in the thousands, and this trend persists. Recently, Deck Nine, the current developers of the popular series Life is Strange, have announced another wave of layoffs.

Not long after the release of “Life is Strange: Double Exposure“, Deck Nine revealed on Twitter that they were letting go of a certain number of employees due to the tough conditions prevailing within the gaming industry.

Today, it is with a heavy heart that we announce some of our team members will be leaving us. This was a tough decision, made more so by the hardships many companies in our sector are experiencing right now. We want to express our deepest gratitude to each person who has poured their effort, enthusiasm, and dedication into creating exceptional entertainment with us.

Over the past almost two years, Deck Nine has been forced to reduce its workforce on three separate occasions. Previously, they announced job cuts in May of the previous year and again in February of this year.

Deck Nine, in their past projects, has created “Life is Strange: True Colors” and “Life is Strange: Before the Storm,” and they have collaborated on “The Expanse: A Telltale Series.

Life is Strange: Double Exposure is available on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch, and PC.
