As a longtime fan of the Yakuza series, I’m thrilled to hear that RGG Studio is gearing up to reveal their next project at the Tokyo Game Show in September. After being blown away by the depth and narrative of “Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth,” I was starting to worry that we might not be getting another entry in the franchise anytime soon. But now, with this announcement, my excitement has been rekindled!
RGG Studio, the creator of the Like a Dragon (previously named Yakuza) series, has revealed when they plan to unveil their next project. In January, they launched Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth, which is the eighth major installment in the franchise. Initially, it appeared that RGG Studio might take a break following such a significant release. However, it seems now that they won’t be doing so after all.
According to VGC’s latest update, RGG Studio has planned to unveil their upcoming project at the Tokyo Game Show this September. The gaming convention is scheduled from the 26th to the 29th of this month. Although RGG Studio hasn’t disclosed the exact announcement date, they are expected to share more information closer to the event.
RGG Studio, known for its major contributions to the Like a Dragon series in recent times, might introduce a new game connected to this popular franchise. Although they have also released standalone titles like “Like a Dragon: Ishin” and “Judgment,” which are spin-offs of the main property, it’s unclear if their next project will be another spin-off or something new within the franchise.
Recently at Anime Expo, RGG Studio’s team hinted that their forthcoming game may not align with fan expectations. They teased that this upcoming project will leave fans “in for a surprise.” Although it won’t be an entirely new intellectual property (IP), as they confirmed its connection to the Like a Dragon series. A revival of an older franchise entry, such as Yakuza: Dead Souls, could potentially deliver the shocking twist.
