As a seasoned gamer with over two decades of experience under my belt, I must say that the announcement of Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii from Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio has left me utterly thrilled and eagerly anticipating its release in 2025!
At this year’s RGG Summit, Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio unveiled a fresh installment in the Like a Dragon series – Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii. Set to release on February 28th, 2025, this new game centers around Majima Goro as the main character. Here’s a sneak peek at the announcement trailer (kindly provided by GameSpot). Enjoy!
On the island richly endowed near Hawaii, Majima finds himself after drifting ashore, battling with amnesia. Aided by a local boy named Rich Noah, he engages in fights against pirates before ultimately commandeering a seafaring ship. Matters become increasingly complex as Majima crosses paths with an enigmatic group called Madlantis and its ruler, Queen Michelle.
Additionally, there’s mention of the Mysterious Treasures of Esperanza, another island known for its nuclear waste storage, and surprisingly, Samoa Joe. It appears that Hawaii remains a setting (despite Ichiban Kasuga not being in the game), where Majima engages in combat with adversaries and even accepts bicycle delivery tasks.
Instead of diving into “Infinite Wealth,” I find myself captivated by this swashbuckling, action-packed adventure where I can live as a pirate. What particularly catches my eye is the intricate combat system, with the protagonist, Majima, skillfully brandishing not just one, but two sabers.
The game titled “Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii” will soon be available on Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and PC. Keep an eye out for further updates coming up shortly.
